Lunar articulated remote transportation system [PDF]

open access: yes
The students of the Florida A&M/Florida State University College of Engineering continued their design from 1988 to 1989 on a first generation lunar transportation vehicle for use on the surface of the Moon between the years 2010 and 2020.

A systematic review evaluating the performance of eDNA methods relative to conventional methods for biodiversity monitoring

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
The rapid adoption of environmental DNA (eDNA) methods has drastically changed biodiversity monitoring efforts. It is often claimed that eDNA methods are more sensitive and efficient than conventional biodiversity monitoring methods, but it is often unclear what metrics support this claim.

Monocular Vision Guidance for Unmanned Surface Vehicle Recovery

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The positioning error of the GPS method at close distances is relatively large, rendering it incapable of accurately guiding unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) back to the mother ship. Therefore, this study proposes a near-distance recovery method for USVs

Interfacial Solvent Molecular Engineering via High‐Safety Dense Separators for High‐Rate Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The dense PPS‐separator prevents thermal runaway by allowing electron transfer through the steel needle during penetration, while the residual electrolyte enables brief ion migration and Joule heating, causing rapid electrolyte vaporization, collapse of the ion transport network, and a sharp drop in ionic conductivity.

Design of HAWT Rotor for Non‐Uniform Inflow Conditions: A Theoretical and Experimental Approach for Shear Flow

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper aims to provide a robust design approach for HAWTs operating in shear flow. This study fills a critical research gap by integrating BEM and vortex theories for blade design in non‐homogeneous inflow conditions. The authors of the paper made an effort to develop and test an experimentally unsophisticated model of a turbine working in shear ...

Collaborative Optimization of Electromagnetic Interference Shielding, Adaptive Multi‐Color, and Thermal Camouflage of Basalt Fibers by Temperature‐Induced Gradient Structure Control

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Polychromatic BFs with exceptional EMI and thermal shielding were fabricated based on a “plasma activation‐ALD bridging‐chemical plating‐post annealing treatments” gradient functionalization strategy. As prepared, basalt fiber/fabric demonstrates outstanding EMI SE of 53.47 dB and thermal infrared camouflage effect.

Superior through‐plane thermal conductivity in carbon fibers/spherical graphene/epoxy laminated composites for low‐altitude aircrafts

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
To address the low through‐plane thermal conductivity (λ⊥) of carbon fiber/epoxy composites, which poses thermal management challenges in the expanding low‐altitude economy, we incorporated spherical thermally reduced graphene (s‐TRG) as a bridging filler. This architectural design achieved a λ⊥ of 2.73 W m–1 K–1 at 10 wt% loading.

Carbon Stock and Environmental Variations of Typical Plantations in Mufu Mountain in Hubei Province, China

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forest ecosystems play a critical role in the global carbon cycle. As a significant terrestrial carbon sink, plantations exhibit carbon stock patterns that are shaped by tree species composition, stand structure, and environmental conditions. Here, we investigated typical plantation types in the Mufu Mountain, Hubei Province.
