Aquatic macrophytes as nature‐based solutions: Challenges and opportunities across inland and coastal waters

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Macrophytes are foundation species whose use as nature‐based solution (NbS) in aquatic ecosystems can help reduce climate change impacts while mitigating biodiversity loss. The discrepancy in research and application of macrophytes as NbS across inland and marine coastal ecosystems is an opportunity to expand the concept and learn from ...

Uncertainty assessment for a novel optically shallow water radiometric acquisition platform

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 24, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract We present a novel motorized platform, a custom‐built jet‐ski designed for acoustic and radiometric measurements in optically shallow coastal waters. This platform integrates in‐water radiometers with single‐beam and multi‐beam acoustic sensors, along with a suite of active and passive instruments (conductivity‐temperature‐depth, fluorescence,

Collision Avoidance for Unmanned Surface Vehicles

open access: yes, 2008
Considerable progress has been achieved in recent years with respect to autonomous vehicles. A good example is the DARPA Grand Challenge, a competition for autonomous ground vehicles. None of the competing vehicles managed to complete the challenge in 2004, but returning in 2005, a total of five vehicles were successful.

Fast Solvation Dynamics Enabled by High Entropy Electrolyte Design for Low Temperature Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
A propylene carbonate‐based high‐entropy electrolyte weakens Li+–PC coordination, diversifies the Li+ solvation environment, and accelerates solvation‐shell exchange. The nitrile/carbonate co‐solvent design suppresses PC co‐intercalation, promotes stable interphase formation on graphite, and enables fast ion transport as well as stable graphite||NMC622

Linking Plant and Microbial Traits to Soil Carbon for Reliable and Resilient Bioenergy Systems

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Plant–microbe–soil interactions supporting productivity and soil carbon storage in bioenergy systems. Plants supply organic inputs that sustain microbial communities driving nutrient cycling, carbon stabilization, and soil aggregation. These interactions enhance soil structure and nutrient retention, supporting both biomass productivity and broader ...
