Human uracil DNA N-glycosidase: studies in normal and repair defective cultured fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: greenNucleic Acids Research, 1978
Uracil DNA N-glycosidase, an enzyme which participates in the excision of uracil from DNA, was measured in extracts from fibroblasts lines cultured from normal subjects, from several subjects with the genetic disease xeroderma pigmentosum, and from a subject with ataxia telangiectasia.

Enzymes from Micrococcus luteus involved in the initial steps of excision repair of spontaneous DNA lesions: uracil-DNA-glycosidase and apurinic-endonucleases [PDF]

open access: greenNucleic Acids Research, 1978
Uracil-DNA-glycosidase that releases free uracil from single-stranded or double-stranded deaminated DNA and poly d(A-U) has been partially purified from Micrococcus luteus. The enzyme has a molecular weight of about 16,000 and can be separated from uracil-endonuclease and endonucleases (AP-endonucleases) specific for apurinic and apyrimidinic sites ...

APOBEC3G protects the genome of human cultured cells and mice from radiation‐induced damage

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 290, Issue 7, Page 1822-1839, April 2023., 2023
A3G protects mice from IR‐induced damage and promotes accurate DNA double‐strand breaks repair in cultured cells. Transgenic mice expressing A3G successfully survived lethal irradiation, whereas wild‐type controls quickly succumbed to radiation syndrome.

Recent Advances in the Development and Synthesis of Carbohydrate‐Based Molecules with Promising Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 26, Issue 4, January 24, 2023., 2023
In this review, the potential of carbohydrates as starting materials for the synthesis of antimicrobial agents is explored. The most recent and successful reports of sugar‐based bactericides, bacteriostatic agents, and adhesin binders are covered with focus on the methodologies employed in their synthesis, resulting in a useful compilation of state‐of ...

Novel molecules and target genes for vegetative heat tolerance in wheat

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 3, Issue 6, Page 264-289, December 2022., 2022
Chronic heat stress induces distinct physiological, metabolomic, and transcriptomic changes in a heat‐tolerant Triticum aestivum cultivar, Cadenza, compared to a susceptible cultivar, Paragon. Previously uncharacterized metabolites and genes are differentially regulated in the heat‐tolerant cultivar, providing potential for future crop heat tolerance ...

Pharmacomicrobiomics: Influence of gut microbiota on drug and xenobiotic metabolism

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 36, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
Abstract Gut microbiota is the most diverse and complex biological ecosystem, which is estimated to consist of greater than 5 million distinct genes and 100 trillion cells which are in constant communication with the host environment. The interaction between the gut microbiota and drugs and other xenobiotic compounds is bidirectional, quite complicated,

Regio‐ and Stereoselective Steroid Hydroxylation at C7 by Cytochrome P450 Monooxygenase Mutants

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 132, Issue 30, Page 12599-12605, July 20, 2020., 2020
One mutant, six targets: The regio‐ and stereoselective C−H activation for hydroxylation of six different steroids with formation of C7β alcohols was accomplished using a single P450 mutant evolved by protein library construction based on a special DNA assembly and cloning procedure.
