Prevalence and Characteristics of Urinary Catheter Blockage in Patients With Long‐Term Urinary Catheterization: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To determine the prevalence and characteristics of urinary catheter blockage in older patients using objective indicators and to characterize obstructive materials and microbiota. Design A cross‐sectional study. Methods Patients aged ≥ 65 years with an indwelling catheter for ≥ 24 h were recruited from a long‐term care hospital.

Identification of novel urease inhibitors: pharmacophore modeling, virtual screening and molecular docking studies

open access: yes, 2018
Pharmacophore modeling and atom-based three-dimensional quantitative structure–activity relationship (3D-QSAR) have been developed on N-acylglycino- and hippurohydroxamic acid derivatives, which are known potential inhibitors of urease.

Urban ants as potential mechanical vectors of pathogenic and antibiotic‐resistant bacteria in a Brazilian hospital

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
Nine ant taxa were identified in a Brazilian hospital, with Tapinoma melanocephalum and Dorymyrmex brunneus being the most abundant. Eighty‐five percent of collected ants yielded detectable bacterial growth, including clinically relevant genera such as Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli and Pluralibacter.

Anti-Helicobacter pylori Activity of Quinolin-2-one/Chalcone Hybrids as Urease Inhibitors

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
The present research explores the urease inhibitory potential of a designed set of quinoline-2-one/chalcone hybrid derivatives (4a-e). The biological assessment demonstrated that these molecules exhibit strong urease inhibition, with IC50 values ranging ...

Design and Synthesis of Heterocyclic Hydroxamic Acid Derivatives as Inhibitors of Helicobacter pylori Urease

open access: yes, 2003
Helicobacter pylori produces ammonia to help counter the acidic environment in the human stomach. The production of ammonia, essential for the microorganism\u27s survival and virulence, is the product of enzymatic conversion of urea by the H. pylori\u27s

Microbial Partnerships for Sustainable Soybean Cultivation: Mechanisms, Applications and Prospects

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soybean production is increasingly threatened by fluctuating environmental conditions and nutrient limitations. While synthetic fertilisers can alleviate these constraints, their excessive use has raised concerns regarding long‐term soil health. Consequently, leveraging beneficial soil microbes, a diverse group of microorganisms that reside in

Inhibition of Urease by Some Triazole, Urea, and Guanidine Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Series of aminotriazole, guanidine and urea derivatives were prepared and tested as urease inhibitors. A greater part of the tested compounds, all containing the sequence ressembling the substrate, have shown an inhibitory effect on ...

White Globe Appearance Is an Endoscopic Predictor of Metachronous Multiple Gastric Cancers

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 7, Issue 1, April 2027.
ABSTRACT Objectives White globe appearance (WGA) is a small white lesion with a globular shape identified during magnifying endoscopy with narrow‐band imaging. However, the association between WGA and metachronous gastric cancer remains unclear. Methods This study involved patients who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for first‐episode ...
