Ursolic acid, a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid, inhibits intracellular trafficking of proteins and induces accumulation of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 linked to high-mannose-type glycans in the endoplasmic reticulum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2014
Ursolic acid (3β-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid) is a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid that is present in many plants, including medicinal herbs, and foods.

Determination of ursolic acid and ursolic acid lactone in the leaves of Eucalyptus tereticornis by HPLC [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2012
A simple isocratic HPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous quantification of two bioactive triterpenes, ursolic acid and ursolic acid lactone in E. tereticornis leaves. Samples were analyzed on RP-18 (4.6 × 250 mm, 5 µm) column with methanol and water acidified to pH 3.5 with TFA (88:12) at 210 nm.

Ursolic Acid Inhibits Na+/K+-ATPase Activity and Prevents TNF-α-Induced Gene Expression by Blocking Amino Acid Transport and Cellular Protein Synthesis

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2011
Pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, induce the expression of a wide variety of genes, including intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1).

Enhancement of Platelet Aggregation by Ursolic Acid and Oleanolic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules & Therapeutics, 2014
The pentacyclic triterpenoid ursolic acid (UA) and its isomer oleanolic acid (OA) are ubiquitous in food and plant medicine, and thus are easily exposed to the population through natural contact or intentional use. Although they have diverse health benefits, reported cardiovascular protective activity is contentious. In this study, the effect of UA and

TRITERPENOIDS AND FLAVONOIDAL GLYCOSIDE FROM FRUITS OF SORBUS AUCUPARIA (DC) CULTIVATED IN EGYPT [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Assiut University, 1997
From the chloroform soluble fraction of ethanolic extract of the dried fruits of Sorbus aucuparia (DC)four triterpenes were isolated and identified as a-amyrin, ursolic acid, methyl 2a-hydroxy ursolate, 2a-hydroxy ursolic acid in addition to b-sitosterol.

Ursolic acid in health and disease

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology, 2018
Ursolic acid (UA) is a natural triterpene compound found in various fruits and vegetables. There is a growing interest in UA because of its beneficial effects, which include anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-apoptotic, and anti-carcinogenic effects.

The Metabolic Changes of Artesunate and Ursolic Acid on Syrian Golden Hamsters Fed with the High-Fat Diet

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Artesunate was well known as an antimalarial drug. Our previous research found that it has hypolipidemia effects in rabbits fed with a high-fat diet, especially combined with ursolic acid.
