Influence of Vegetation Structure on Lemur Recolonization of Post‐Fire Habitats in Northwestern Madagascar

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 7, July 2026.
Lemur species respond differently to fire‐related vegetation changes (structure, species diversity) according to body size and ecological specialization in the dry deciduous forests of northwestern Madagascar. ABSTRACT Habitat quality is a key determinant of wildlife distribution. Fire degrades forests by increasing canopy openness and eliminating even

Nec ut interpres sed ut... philosophus

open access: yesCalenda

Open‐Shell Tetra(dicyanomethylene)‐bicyclopropenylidene CN8CP2 Radical Anion as Strong Electron Acceptor

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 7, July 2026.
A practical route to the novel CN8CP2 framework enables access to its dianion, radical anion, and electrochemically generated neutral species. Its exceptionally low LUMO levels establish the CN8CP2 framework as a highly electron‐deficient small‐molecule acceptor and a promising dopant candidate for future functional materials.

The Heritability of Migration Behaviors in a Wide‐Ranging Ungulate

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Despite our understanding that variation in migration behavior has both genetic and environmental components, studies quantifying the sources of genetic variation contributing to migration phenotypes are lacking. Our study provides, to our knowledge, the first empirical evidence of heritability in migration behavior in ungulates.

Detection and Quantification of Two Flatfish Species in the Sylt Outer Reef: Development of a qPCR Assay and Forecast Model Based on eDNA Copies

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 8, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
ABSTRACT Assessing fish diversity and abundance is crucial for effective marine conservation and management strategies, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas such as the North Sea. Bottom trawling, one of the most commonly used fishing methods, is facing growing criticism, even for scientific purposes, and has already been banned in ecologically
