Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

Game Analysis of Strategies for Providing Material Support to the Population

open access: yesСтатистика и экономика
The article focuses on the possibilities of game analysis of options for providing material support to the population, implemented in the form of a game with nature – a generalized player, whose inclusion in the game analysis allows us to consider the ...

Future Utility Analysis Research: Continue, but Expand the Cognitive and Strategic Focus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
[Excerpt] Does utility analysis research have a future? I believe the answer depends on how we contemplate the nature of such research. The distinction between two potential paths has never been more apparent. On the one hand, as researchers, industrial

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Optimizing Sustainability and Profitability: A Two−Phase Extended Warranty Framework for Reman and New Products in Monopolistic OEMs

open access: yesIEEE Access
Remanufactured products are now a vital part of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) product portfolio due to the financial benefits associated with them, as well as increased awareness about the need for economic and environmental sustainability on a

How politicians make decisions under risk: a political choice experiment [PDF]

open access: yes
We report on an experimental study with real-world politicians. These political experts face political choice problems under risk and probability. Thus, we test the frequently observed violations of rational choice theory -the reference point effect ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Rank dependent expected utility models of tax evasion. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper the rank-dependent expected utility theory is substituted for the expected utility theory in models of tax evasion. It is demonstrated that the comparative statics results of the expected utility, portfolio choice model of tax evasion carry

Completed power operations for Morava E-theory

open access: yes, 2015
We construct and study an algebraic theory which closely approximates the theory of power operations for Morava E-theory, extending previous work of Charles Rezk in a way that takes completions into account.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
