Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...

Beyond Hot Spots: Biases in Antibody Somatic Hypermutation and Implications for Vaccine Design

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
The evolution of antibodies in an individual during an immune response by somatic hypermutation (SHM) is essential for the ability of the immune system to recognize and remove the diverse spectrum of antigens that may be encountered.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Elicitation of liver-stage immunity by nanoparticle immunogens displaying P. falciparum CSP-derived antigens

open access: yesnpj Vaccines
A vaccine that provides robust, durable protection against malaria remains a global health priority. Although a breakthrough in the fight against malaria has recently been achieved by the licensure of two vaccines based on the circumsporozoite protein ...

Development of a malaria vaccine candidate based on virosome technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Malaria is an infectious disease caused by protozoan pathogens of the genus Plasmodium. The most important species affecting humans is P. falciparum transmitted by the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes during a blood meal.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...
