Advancing usability of an influenza hemagglutinin virus-like particle vaccine expressing a chimeric cytokine

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2023
Vaccine efficacy of conventional influenza vaccines depend on the antigenic similarity between the selected vaccine strain and annual epidemic strain. Since the influenza virus evolves yearly, a vaccine which is independent from viral antigenic mutation ...

Influence of Parental Psychological Flexibility on Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy: Mediating Role of Self-Efficacy and Coping Style

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
Background: Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy hinders the establishment of immune barrier in children. Psychological flexibility may be a key contributing factor to pediatric COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, and self-efficacy and coping style play an ...

Bimetallic Nanoreactor Activates cGAS‐STING Pathway via mtDNA Release for Cancer Metalloimmunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bimetallic Mn–Ca nanoreactor (MCC) is developed as a non‐nucleotide STING nanoagonist for cancer metalloimmunotherapy. MCC induces Ca2+ overload and hydroxyl radical generation, resulting in mitochondrial damage and mtDNA release. The released mtDNA cooperates with Mn2+ to robustly activate cGAS–STING signaling.

Post-hoc analysis from phase III trials of human papillomavirus vaccines: considerations on impact on non-vaccine types

open access: yesExpert Review of Vaccines, 2019
Background: Substantial heterogeneity has been reported in efficacy against high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) irrespective of HPV type in phase III results for bivalent and quadrivalent human papillomavirus virus (HPV) vaccines (AS04 ...

Pre-vaccination monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio as a biomarker for the efficacy of malaria candidate vaccines: A subgroup analysis of pooled clinical trial data.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundPre-vaccination monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio was previously suggested as a marker for malaria vaccine effectiveness. We investigated the potential of this cell ratio as a marker for malaria vaccine efficacy and effectiveness.

Brain damage following whooping cough vaccination : is it time to lay the myth to rest? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Whooping cough causes significant morbidity and mortality, especially in early infancy. Although an effective vaccine exists, vaccine uptake in Malta was previously disappointing due to the general public’s and the medical community’s doubts regarding ...

Estimating vaccine efficacy

open access: yesScience, 2020
Coronavirus Numerous coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are under development in clinical trials, but what do we need to know to ensure that they are used correctly? There are two vaccination strategies: direct protection of vulnerable populations and vaccination of the general population to indirectly protect those at highest risk of severe ...

PRELIVE: A Framework for Predicting Lipid Nanoparticles In Vivo Efficacy and Reducing Reliance on Animal Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PREdicting LNP In Vivo Efficacy (PRELIVE) framework enables the prediction of lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) organ‐specific delivery through dual modeling approaches. Composition‐based models using formulation parameters and protein corona‐based models using biological fingerprints both achieve high predictive accuracy across multiple organs.
