Advancing Stroke Clinical Trials Using Community Engagement and Implementation Science Approaches

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stroke clinical trials are essential for advancing stroke care but can face challenges with recruitment, retention, clinical relevance, and translation into real‐world practice. We propose that integrating community engagement and implementation science approaches into stroke trials can help address these needs.

Enhancement Of The Potency Of Typhoid Vaccines With Calcium Alginate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology, 1970
Summary The potency of typhoid vaccine for mice could be increased 50-fold by incorporation in alginate. This adjuvance was evident only after intraperitoneal inoculation. It waned rapidly and had virtually ceased 26 days after vaccination. Similarly, alginate increased the resistance to typhoid challenge of mice given a heterologous antigen, pertussis

Bi‐ and Mono‐Allelic RFC1 Expansion in a North American Cohort With Idiopathic Axonal Neuropathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective RFC1 biallelic repeat expansion is increasingly recognized as a cause of chronic idiopathic axonal polyneuropathy (CIAP), but it remains challenging to know who to test. This study aims to determine the prevalence of biallelic and monoallelic RFC1 expansions and their corresponding neuropathy phenotypes in CIAP patients and identify ...

Developing and Evaluating a Laboratory‐Based Frailty Index for the Prediction of Long‐Term Health Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical FI. Methods We used data from a single‐center prospective cohort of adult patients with SLE whose baseline visit ...
