EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Modeling and numerical simulation of anode activity and arc motion in a transverse magnetic field

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
Vacuum interrupters based on transverse magnetic field contacts now are widely used in medium voltage circuit breakers. The arc motion under the transverse magnetic field (TMF) plays a decisive role in the interruption.

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

A non-contact method for vacuum degree detection in simulant vacuum interrupters using coaxial optical path laser-induced plasma

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
This paper proposes a non-contact vacuum degree detection method for vacuum interrupters based on coaxial optical path laser-induced plasma (LIP), aiming to overcome the limitations of conventional techniques in accuracy and on-line applicability.

Magnetic Force Microscopy Signatures of Higher‐Order Skyrmions and Antiskyrmions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic force microscopy operated under vacuum conditions enables the qualitative identification of higher‐order skyrmions and antiskyrmions in Co/Ni multilayers at room temperature. Distinct stray‐field contrast signatures arise from vertical Bloch lines and complex domain‐wall configurations.

High current interruption in vacuum circuit breakers [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 17th International Symposium on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum, 1997
The aim of this project was to find a correlation between contact gap length and switching behavior of a vacuum circuit breaker. A large number of interruption experiments were executed in a vacuum chamber with butt type contacts made of Cu, CuCr 50/50 and AgWC. The currents to be interrupted varied from 2.5 to 32 kA.

Copper‐Based Crystalline‐Metallic Glass Composite Thin Films: A Novel Material with Enhanced Strength and Thermally Stable Nanotwins

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Cu‐based crystal‐glass composite with high‐density twins is identified by a fast screening technique using combinatorial sputtering together with XRD and nanoindentation mapping. This bamboo‐like structure demonstrates homogenous plastic flow and retains high strength during in situ high temperature tests, up to 1 GPa at 550°C, owing to those ...
