Disturbed Homeostasis of Lung Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 and Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 During Sepsis [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Pathology, 2004
Cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced sepsis in mice was associated with perturbations in vascular adhesion molecules. In CLP mice, lung vascular binding of (125)I-monoclonal antibodies to intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM)-1 revealed sharp increases in binding of anti-ICAM-1 and significantly ...

Cell adhesion molecules and hyaluronic acid as markers of inflammation, fibrosis and response to antiviral therapy in chronic hepatitis C patients

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2001
Objective: Cell adhesion molecules (intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1)) and hyaluronic acid, markers of inflammation and fibrosis were monitored in hepatitis C patients to determine whether changes in ...

Serum Level of Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) in Sera [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2009
Endothelial dysfunction is thought to be a central pathogenic feature in preeclampsia on the basis of elevated adhesion molecules. Soluble forms of these molecules can be detected in plasma, and their concentrations are thought to reflect the degree of ...

Effects of Helicobacter pylori Water Extract on Expression of Endothelial Adhesion Molecules

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2004
The present study investigated whether Helicobacter pylori water extract induces the upregulation of intercellular adhesion molecule-1, vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 and E-selectin on human umbilical vein endothelial cells, using an ELISA. The nature

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 cooperatively contribute to the cutaneous Arthus reaction [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Leukocyte Biology, 2007
AbstractImmune complex (IC)-induced inflammation is mediated by inflammatory cell infiltration, a process that is highly regulated by expression of multiple adhesion molecules. The roles and interactions of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1, the major regulators of leukocyte firm adhesion, were examined in the cutaneous reverse-passive Arthus reaction using ICAM-1 ...

Tie2 Signaling Enhances Mast Cell Progenitor Adhesion to Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (VCAM-1) through α4β1 Integrin.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Mast cell (MC) activation contributes considerably to immune responses, such as host protection and allergy. Cell surface immunoreceptors expressed on MCs play an important role in MC activation.

Adhesion of Monocytes to Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1–Transduced Human Endothelial Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1998
Abstract —To study the role of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) in monocyte recruitment and atherogenesis, we constructed a recombinant adenovirus, AdRSVrVCAM-1, carrying the rabbit VCAM-1 cDNA. We have previously shown that AdRSVrVCAM-1–transduced human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) support the adhesion ...

Effect of Mitral Stenosis Severity on Blood Soluble Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 and Soluble Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 Levels

open access: yesMajalah Kardiologi Indonesia, 2015
Background: Blood Soluble Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) and Soluble Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (sICAM-1) levels are increased in Mitral Stenosis (MS) patients, but whether this phenomenon is due to chronic rheumatic inflammation ...

Antrodia cinnamomea ameliorates neointimal formation by inhibiting inflammatory cell infiltration through downregulation of adhesion molecule expression in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFood Science and Human Wellness, 2021
The increased vascular inflammation is a key event in the development of atherosclerotic lesions. Antrodia cinnamomea has been shown to promote anticancerogenic activity through decreasing inflammation. However, the potential role of A.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
