Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Vascular endothelial growth factor-C in patients with breast cancer.

open access: yesIn vivo (Athens, Greece), 2007
Metastatic spread of tumours is the major cause of death in patients with breast cancer. Despite the importance of the lymphatic system in tumour metastasis, little is known about the role of lymphangiogenesis in tumour growth and metastasis. This study was undertaken to evaluate the potential usefulness of plasma levels of lymphanagiogenesis factor ...

Adenoviral Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-C Induces Lymphangiogenesis in the Skin [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2001
Abstract — The growth of blood and lymphatic vasculature is mediated in part by secreted polypeptides of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family. The prototype VEGF binds VEGF receptor (VEGFR)-1 and VEGFR-2 and is angiogenic, whereas VEGF-C, which binds to VEGFR-2 and VEGFR-3, is either angiogenic or ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

Expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor-C in human chronic periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2015
Background/purpose: Evidence shows that there is a relationship between hypoxia and inflammatory response in periodontitis. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α is a major regulator of energy homeostasis and cellular adaptation to low oxygen stress ...

Predictive and prognostic biomarkers of Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin therapy failure in bladder cancer patients: A systematic review

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
High‐risk bladder cancer is typically treated with Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin (BCG), but 30–40% of patients relapse. No FDA‐ or CE‐approved biomarkers currently predict or prognosticate BCG failure. We systematically reviewed the literature and identified 72 eligible studies, revealing several promising biomarkers associated with BCG treatment response ...

VEGF-C inhibits Kupffer cells activation and alleviates ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats after liver transplantation

open access: yesDi-san junyi daxue xuebao, 2019
Objective To investigate whether vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3)/VEGF-C signaling suppresses activation of Kupffer cells (KCs) and attenuates hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) after liver transplantation.

Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-C and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 in ovarian epithelial tumors

open access: yesChinese Journal of Cancer Research, 2007
Objective To explore the role of vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C) in the process of angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis in epithelial ovarian tumors.

Blockade of Prolymphangiogenic Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor C in Dry Eye Disease [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Ophthalmology, 2012
To determine whether blocking prolymphangiogenic factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) would suppress alloimmunity in dry eye disease using a murine model. The effects of intraperitoneal injections of 400 μg of anti-VEGF-C antibody (treated group) and intraperitoneal normal saline (untreated group) were studied in murine dry eyes

Endothelial Wnt/β-catenin signaling inhibits glioma angiogenesis and normalizes tumor blood vessels by inducing PDGF-B expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Endothelial Wnt/β-catenin signaling is necessary for angiogenesis of the central nervous system and blood–brain barrier (BBB) differentiation, but its relevance for glioma vascularization is unknown. In this study, we show that doxycycline-dependent Wnt1
