Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Adiponectin regulates vascular endothelial growth factor-C expression in macrophages via Syk-ERK pathway. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Adiponectin is exclusively expressed in adipose tissues and exhibits protective effects against cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. It enhances AMP-activated kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα) signaling in the liver

Peritumor Lymphatics Induced by Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-C Exhibit Abnormal Function [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Research, 2004
Abstract Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C is known to induce hyperplasia in normal murine lymphatics and in peritumor lymphatics. Here, we examine the function of these hyperplastic peritumor lymphatics. Microlymphangiography of B16F10 melanomas growing in the murine dorsal skinfold chamber showed that the number of functional,

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-C Expression and Invasive Phenotype in Ovarian Carcinomas [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Cancer Research, 2005
Abstract Purpose: To investigate the biological correlation between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C expression and invasive phenotype in ovarian carcinomas. Experimental Design: Gene and protein expression levels of VEGF-C in 10 ovarian carcinoma cell lines were correlated with invasive activity of the cells ...

VEGF(164)-mediated inflammation is required for pathological, but not physiological, ischemia-induced retinal neovascularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Hypoxia-induced VEGF governs both physiological retinal vascular development and pathological retinal neovascularization. In the current paper, the mechanisms of physiological and pathological neovascularization are compared and contrasted.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Evaluation of Endothelial Cells Differentiated from Amniotic Fluid-Derived Stem Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Amniotic fluid holds great promise as a stem cell source, especially in neonatal applications where autologous cells can be isolated and used. This study examined chemical-mediated differentiation of amniotic fluid-derived stem cells (AFSC) into ...
