Challenges and opportunities in vascularized composite allotransplantation of joints: a systematic literature review. [PDF]
BackgroundJoint allotransplantation (JA) within the field of vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) holds great potential for functional and non-prosthetic reconstruction of severely damaged joints.

Preconditioned Mesenchymal Stromal Cells to Improve Allotransplantation Outcome
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are tissue-derived progenitor cells with immunomodulatory as well as multilineage differentiation capacities, and have been widely applied as cellular therapeutics in different disease systems in both preclinical models ...

Randomized preclinical study of machine perfusion in vascularized composite allografts
This study was designed to identify the optimum machine perfusion parameters for preservation of limbs before transplantation, and determine whether this was better than cold storage. Normothermic machine perfusion at a pressure of 70 mmHg (NMP‐70) provided superior preservation to cold storage after transplantation.

Costimulation Blockade in Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation [PDF]
Vascular composite allotransplantation (VCA) is a field under research and has emerged as an alternative option for the repair of severe disfiguring defects that result from infections or traumatic amputation in a selected group of patients. VCA is performed in centers with appropriate expertise, experience and adequate resources to effectively manage ...

Towards Optimizing Sub-Normothermic Machine Perfusion in Fasciocutaneous Flaps: A Large Animal Study
Machine perfusion has developed rapidly since its first use in solid organ transplantation. Likewise, reconstructive surgery has kept pace, and ex vivo perfusion appears as a new trend in vascularized composite allotransplants preservation. In autologous
