Fast Isolation of Flavonoids from the Endemic Species Nolana ramosissima I.M. Johnst and Its Endothelium-Independent Relaxation Effect in Rat Aorta

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The infusion of the desertic plant Nolana ramosissima I.M. Johnst showed vascular smooth muscle relaxation in rat aorta and the presence of several phenolic compounds, which were detected by high resolution UHPLC-Orbitrap-HESI-MS.

Cold-induced vasodilation comparison between Bangladeshi and Japanese natives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: The human thermoregulation system responds to changes in environmental temperature, so humans can self-adapt to a wide range of climates. People from tropical and temperate areas have different cold tolerance. This study compared the tolerance

The key role of nitric oxide in hypoxia: hypoxic vasodilation and energy supply-demand matching [PDF]

open access: yes
Significance: a mismatch between energy supply and demand induces tissue hypoxia with the potential to cause cell death and organ failure. Whenever arterial oxygen concentration is reduced, increases in blood flow - 'hypoxic vasodilation' - occur in an ...

Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibition Potentiates Stimulated Growth Hormone Secretion and Vasodilation in Women

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018
BackgroundDiminished growth hormone (GH) is associated with impaired endothelial function and fibrinolysis. GH‐releasing hormone is the primary stimulus for GH secretion and a substrate of dipeptidyl peptidase‐4.

Effects of acute consumption of fruit and vegetable puree-based drinks on vasodilation and oxidative status

open access: yes, 2013
Epidemiological studies indicate that diets rich in fruits and vegetables (F&V) are protective against cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Pureed \&V products retain many beneficial components, including flavonoids, carotenoids, vitamin C and dietary fibres ...

Cardiovascular and hemodynamic consequences of recombinant placental growth factor administration in Guinea pigs

open access: yesHypertension in Pregnancy, 2022
Placental growth factor (PlGF), a member of the vascular endothelial growth factor family of proteins regulating angiogenesis, has been shown to have acute vasodilatory effects on human resistance arteries.

Tetrahydrobiopterin analogues with NO-dependent pulmonary vasodilator properties

open access: yes, 2011
Reduced NO levels due to the deficiency of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) contribute to impaired vasodilation in pulmonary hypertension Due to the chemically unstable nature of BH4 it was hypothesised that oxidatively stable analogues of BR, would be able to ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.
