Conditional Vitamin D Receptor Deletion Induces Fungal and Archaeal Dysbiosis and Altered Metabolites

open access: yesMetabolites
A vitamin D receptor (VDR) deficiency leads to the dysbiosis of intestinal bacteria and is associated with various diseases, including cancer, infections, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Aspartame Increases the Risk of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Aspartame (APM) is a widely used artificial sweetener associated with various health concerns, including potential links to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and an increased risk of cancer. A comprehensive approach incorporating data mining, machine learning, network toxicology, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and clinical sample ...

Coactivator-independent vitamin D receptor signaling causes severe rickets in mice, that is not prevented by a diet high in calcium, phosphate, and lactose

open access: yesBone Research
The vitamin D receptor (VDR) plays a critical role in the regulation of mineral and bone homeostasis. Upon binding of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 to the VDR, the activation function 2 (AF2) domain repositions and recruits coactivators for the assembly of ...

The Rising Burden of Osteosarcopenia in Older Adults: A Narrative Review of Pathophysiology, Diagnostic Challenges, and Therapeutic Perspectives

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Osteosarcopenia, defined as the coexistence of osteoporosis and sarcopenia, is an emerging geriatric syndrome linked to the musculoskeletal decline associated with aging. It is correlated with an increased risk of falls, fractures, disability, and mortality.

Mitigation of Cisplatin‐Induced Neurotoxicity via Nrf2/HO‐1 Signaling and Autophagy: The Protective Role of Vitamin D

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study investigates the neuroprotective effect of vitamin D against cisplatin‐induced mitochondrial damage and oxidative stress (ROS). HO‐1 expression is increased by vitamin D, which triggers Nrf2 activation and nuclear translocation. The results demonstrate that vitamin D protects brain tissue by strengthening the antioxidant defense system ...

Deletion of a Pax1 Sex‐Associated Genomic Region Associated With Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Leads to Disc Degeneration, Instability, and Vertebral Rotation in Mice

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Overview of the effects of Pax1‐SAR deletion on gene expression, IVD degeneration, and resultant scoliotic‐like curvature between sexes. Proposed mechanism of sex‐dependent changes in gene expression in females (right) and males (left), resulting in sex‐dependent disc degeneration and scoliotic phenotypes.

Hyperandrogenemia impairs endometrial vitamin D receptor expression in polycystic ovary syndrome

open access: yesGynecological Endocrinology
Objectives To determine the effects of hyperandrogenemia and other phenotypic parameters on endometrial vitamin D receptor (VDR-X2 and VDR-X4) expression in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing ovarian stimulation and total embryo ...

Metabolic Regulation of Immune Responses: Molecular Mechanisms, Diseases, and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
FBP1 loss drives immune evasion and therapy resistance by enhancing glycolysis, STAT3 activation, and PD‐L1 expression, leading to T cell exhaustion and NK cell inhibition. FBP1 restoration, via LNP‐mRNA or epigenetic modulation, reverses these immunosuppressive effects, reactivates cytotoxic T cells, promotes M1 macrophage polarization, and enhances ...

Evaluation of Photophysical Properties and Biological Applications of Diarylmethanes

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
The wide applications of diarylmethanes were investigated through various experimental and computational approaches. The solvent environment influences the electronic properties of diarylmethanes and hence their drug‐like properties. Interactions with PARP1 revealed stable binding supporting anticancer potential.
