Plasmin activates VEGF-C and VEGF-D

International Congress Series, 2004
Abstract Angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis (growth of lymphatic vessels) are guided by members of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family of secreted glycoproteins. In particular, VEGF-C and VEGF-D promote lymphangiogenesis as demonstrated in transgenic animal models and gene delivery studies.

Role of VEGF-C and VEGF-D in lymphangiogenesis in gastric cancer

International Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2005
The molecular mechanisms of lymphangiogenesis induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C and VEGF-D in gastric cancer were studied.VEGF-C and VEGF-D gene expression vectors were transfected into the gastric cancer cell line KKLS, which did not originally express VEGF-C and VEGF-D, and stable transfectants (KKLS/VEGF-C and KKLS/VEGF-D) were ...

Diagnostic value of serum VEGF-D in consecutive patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis

European Respiratory Journal, 2011
Background: Serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) are increased in patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). Objective: To explore the value of measurement of serum level of VEGF-D for the diagnosis of LAM.

Serum level of VEGF-D in patients with primary lymphedema.

Lymphology, 2005
Recent studies have indicated that vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) stimulates lymphangiogenesis in humans. Furthermore, mutations of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR-3) have been observed in families with hereditary lymphedema. The lack of stimulation of lymphangiogenesis could lead to production of even more VEGF-D to
