Optimizing Measurement of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Small Blood Samples of Premature Infants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
To establish a method that allows for the reliable assessment of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) concentrations in very small blood samples of preterm infants. Systemic VEGF measurements are important in view of the most appropriate Anti-VEGF

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Genipin Inhibits Hypoxia-Induced Accumulation of HIF-1α and VEGF Expressions in Human Cervical Carcinoma Cells [PDF]

open access: yesKosin Medical Journal, 2019
Objectives Hypoxia—a characteristic of almost all types of solid tumors—has been associated with poor outcomes in several human malignancies. Genipin—an active constituent of Gardenia fruit— has been reported to exert an anti-tumor effect in several ...

Circulating miRNA 20a, miRNA 140-5p and VEGF as Predictive Biomarkers of Metastasis in Liquid Biopsy of Breast Cancer Patients

open access: yesArchives of Pharmaceutical Sciences Ain Shams University, 2021
Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are critical modulators in breast carcinogenesis. Metastasis remains the underlying cause of breast cancer related mortality.

Resistance to anti-VEGF therapy in neovascular age-related macular degeneration: a comprehensive review

open access: yesDrug Design, Development and Therapy, 2016
As a progressive chronic disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible vision impairment worldwide. Experimental and clinical evidence has demonstrated that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a vital ...

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Multi‐Omics Integration for Advancing Glioma Precision Medicine

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gliomas are among the most malignant and aggressive tumors of the central nervous system, characterized by the absence of early diagnostic markers, poor prognosis, and a lack of effective treatments. Advances in high‐throughput technologies have facilitated a refined molecular classification of gliomas, incorporating genetic features. However,
