Cediranib targeting of circulating VEGFR-1+ monocyte subpopulations

Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2008
14687 Background: Recent studies suggest that specific subpopulations of monocytes and myeloid progenitors, particularly those expressing VEGFR-1, play a key role in promoting tumor angiogenesis an...

The Role of Flt‐1 (VEGFR‐1) in Vascular Morphogenesis

The FASEB Journal, 2007
Pathways that shape the first blood vessels to form during development are used subsequently for physiological and pathological angiogenesis. The VEGF‐A signaling pathway affects blood vessel formation in complex ways. Our work focuses on how the flt‐1 (VEGFR‐1) receptor impacts vascular development.

γ-Secretase Regulates VEGFR-1 Signalling in Vascular Endothelium and RPE

2008
In conclusion, gamma-secretase is expressed in both retinal microvascular endothelial cells and RPE cells and is able to elicit regulated intramembrane proteolysis of VEGFR1. Furthermore, gamma-secretase regulates the translocation of the intracellular domain of VEGFR1 as well as full length VEGFR1 in both cell types. Gamma-secretase is clearly able to

Chemotherapy Enhances Metastasis Formation via VEGFR-1–Expressing Endothelial Cells

Cancer Research, 2011
Abstract Recent studies suggest that chemotherapy, in addition to its cytotoxic effects on tumor cells, can induce a cascade of host events to support tumor growth and spread. Here, we used an experimental pulmonary metastasis model to investigate the role of this host response in metastasis formation.

Oxidised LDL decreases VEGFR-1 expression in human monocyte-derived macrophages

Atherosclerosis, 2003
Monocyte infiltration followed by differentiation into macrophages and accumulation of oxidised LDL (oxLDL) comprise early stages of atherosclerosis. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which is upregulated by oxLDL, may contribute to atherogenesis through monocyte recruitment, increased vascular permeability and promotion of intraplaque vessels.

Cellular Cholesterol Modulates VEGFR-1 Function on Acute Leukemia Cells.

Blood, 2006
Abstract Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors play a crucial role in malignancy and in disease, regulating the survival, proliferation, and migration of several cell types, such as endothelium and also leukemia cells.

Macrophage expression of VEGF and VEGFR-1. Potential involvement in atherogenesis

2008
The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family is a group of proteins which contributes to both neovascularisation and inflammation. Elevated levels of VEGF have been found in subjects with atherosclerosis and correlate to several cardiovascular risk factors, e.g. hypertension and hyperlipidemia. The pro-atherogenic effects of VEGF are implied to
