Autonomous-Driving Vehicle Control With Composite Velocity Profile Planning

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2021
This article develops autonomous-driving vehicle control with a composite velocity profile (CVP) planning. An innovative technique of path planning is presented in the vehicle coordinates to allow complete lane change from any position at the origin lane to the center of the target lane.

Velocity Planning of an Electric Vehicle Using an Evolutionary Algorithm

2013
This paper presents an approach to planning the driving velocity of an electric vehicle. As an object of study a prototype vehicle Mushellka has been chosen. It was built to take part in the Shell Eco-marathon competition. The competition took place in May 2012 and 2013.

A Velocity Prediction Program for a Planning Dinghy

SNAME 17th Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium, 2005
This paper summarizes the author’s graduate thesis in Naval Architecture accepted by the University of New Orleans, College of Engineering. The author sought to investigate the complicated interactions between the hydrodynamics and aerodynamics of a sailboat. The type of sailboat investigated was the Olympic dinghy class called the Laser.

Velocity space approach to motion planning of nonholonomic systems

Robotica, 2007
SUMMARYIn this paper, a velocity space method of motion planning for nonholonomic systems is presented. This method, based on Lie algebraic principles and locally around consecutive current states, plans a motion towards a goal. It is effective as most of the computations can be carried out analytically. This method is illustrated on the unicycle robot

Minimum-time Velocity Planning with Arbitrary Boundary Conditions

2009
In the wide field of vehicle autonomous navigation, significant research efforts have been dedicated to the problem of optimal motion planning. The work presented in this paper faces the aspect of minimum-time velocity planning in the context of the so-called path-velocity decomposition [6] and the iterative steering navigation technique [8,5].

Path-velocity decomposition revisited and applied to dynamic trajectory planning

[1993] Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
Dynamic trajectory planning is addressed. The case of a car-like robot, A, with bounded velocity and acceleration, moving in a dynamic workspace W=R/sup 2/ is considered. The concept of adjacent paths is introduced, and used within a novel motion planning schema which operates in two complementary stages, paths-planning and trajectory-planning.

Consideration of Velocity Terms in Finger-Arm Coordination Motion Planning

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988
Abstract This paper introduces a method of planning the coordination of the robot fingers and an arm in consideration of velocity terms when performing work which can be expressed as a sequence of continuous changes in positioning points of robot finger tips. The search procedure for planning is divided into two steps.

Motion planning in dynamic environments using the relative velocity paradigm

[1993] Proceedings IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
A simple and efficient approach to the computation of avoidance maneuvers among moving obstacles is presented. The method is discussed for the case of a single maneuvering object avoiding several obstacles moving on known linear trajectories. The original dynamic problem is transformed into several static problems using the relative velocity between ...

Trajectory Planning with Velocity Planner for Fully-Automated Passenger Vehicles

2006 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference, 2006
For fully-automated passenger vehicles, trajectory planning that produce smooth trajectories, with respect to the comfort of human body, is required. An approach that consists of introducing a velocity planning stage to generate adequate time sequences to be used in the interpolating curve planner, is proposed. The generated speed profile can be merged
