Close encounters involving RAVE stars beyond the 47 Tucanae tidal radius

open access: yes, 2016
The most accurate 6D phase-space information from the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) was used to integrate the orbits of 105 stars around the galactic globular cluster 47 Tucanae, to look for close encounters between them in the past, with a minimum ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Age variation of motor nerve conduction study in healthy adults: A physiological reference

open access: yesAPIK Journal of Internal Medicine, 2023
Background: Nerve conduction study (NCS) is the simple noninvasive technique to assess the functional status of peripheral nerves. Physiological variables such as age, sex, anthropometric indices influence the functional status of peripheral nerves ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Unsteady Electroosmotic Flow of Jeffrey Fluid in a Circular Microchannel under the Combined Action of Vertical Magnetic Field, External Electric Field, and Pressure at High Zeta Potential

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2022
The unsteady electroosmotic flow (EOF) for one kind of linear viscoelastic fluid, which is Jeffrey type fluid, is investigated under the common impact of vertical magnetic field, external electric field, and pressure at high Zeta potential in a circular ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Influence of substrate potential shape on the dynamics of a sliding lubricant chain

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the frictional sliding of an incommensurate chain of interacting particles confined in between two nonlinear on-site substrate potential profiles in relative motion. We focus here on the class of Remoissenet-Peyrard parametrized potentials

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

CLASSICAL MOLECULAR DYNAMICS (MD) SIMULATION OF SALT AND SOLVENT SOLVATION EVENTS IN LITHIUM ION BATTERIES TO DETERMINE ENERGY FLUCTUATIONS

open access: yesJurnal Neutrino: Jurnal Fisika dan Aplikasinya
This study looks at how salt and solvent mix, as shown by the final positions of particles in a simulation. The simulation uses Lennard-Jones parameters and runs in a closed system with fixed energy. The goal is to see if the particles follow the Maxwell

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
