Preclinical Efficacy and Safety Evaluation of a Novel Controlled‐Expansion ePTFE‐Covered TIPS Stent in a Swine Model

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
This preclinical study evaluated a novel controlled‐expansion expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE)‐covered transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) stent in 11 swine, demonstrating 100% technical success, excellent deployability, and durable 6‐month angiographic patency without thrombosis, migration, fracture, or device‐related toxicity.

Ventilation-induced brain injury in preterm neonates: A review of potential therapies

open access: yes, 2016
Mechanical ventilation is a risk factor for cerebral inflammation and brain injury in preterm neonates. The risk increases proportionally with the intensity of treatment. Recent studies have shown that cerebral inflammation and injury can be initiated in

[Lung protective ventilation - supportive and adjunctive therapies in acute lung injury]

open access: yes, 2008
Various supportive and adjunctive therapies to conventional mechanical ventilation have been evaluated in patients with acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome (e.g. nitric oxide, prone position, surfactant, glucocorticoids).

Intelligent Continuum Micromachines in Complex Confined Spaces

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
The cover depicts a conceptual design for an intelligent continuum micromachine entering a target capsule used in fusion‐energy research through its slender gas‐fill tube. By combining route‐adaptive deformation, embedded sensing, and a functional end effector, the robot could inspect hidden defects, assess local conditions, and support localized ...
