Role of vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 in exocytosis of glucagon-like peptide-1 from the murine intestinal L cell

Diabetologia, 2013
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), secreted by the enteroendocrine L cell, is an incretin hormone that potently stimulates insulin secretion. Although signalling pathways promoting GLP-1 release are well characterised, the mechanisms by which GLP-1-containing granules fuse to the L cell membrane are unknown.

Association Study between Vesicle-Associated Membrane Protein 2 Gene Polymorphisms and Fluvoxamine Response in Japanese Major Depressive Patients

Neuropsychobiology, 2006
Background: Vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is a key component of the synaptic vesicle docking/fusion machinery and its mRNA reportedly increases in the frontal cortex of rats following chronic antidepressant and electroconvulsive treatment.

MicroRNA-185 inhibits proliferation, migration and invasion in human osteosarcoma MG63 cells by targeting vesicle-associated membrane protein 2

Gene, 2019
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an essential role in cancer development. Several studies have indicated that miRNAs mediate tumorigenesis processes, such as inflammation, proliferation, apoptosis and invasion. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the role of the microRNA-185 (miR-185) on the proliferation, migration and invasion of osteosarcoma (OS ...

Cleavage of Vesicle-Associated Membrane Protein (VAMP)-2 and Cellubrevin on GLUT4-Containing Vesicles Inhibits the Translocation of GLUT4 in 3T3-L1 Adipocytes

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996
We have identified VAMP isoforms, VAMP-2 and cellubrevin, on GLUT4-containing vesicle membranes isolated from 3T3-Ll adipocytes. These proteins translocate from a low density microsomal fraction to the plasma membrane upon insulin stimulation in a fashion similar to GLUT4.

Vesicle-associated membrane protein 4, a positional candidate gene on 1q24-q25, is not associated with type 2 diabetes in the Old Order Amish

Molecular Genetics and Metabolism, 2005
The vesicle-associated membrane protein-4 (VAMP4) gene is an excellent type 2 diabetes (T2DM) positional candidate gene. It is located on chromosome 1q24-q25, a region of linkage to T2DM in the Amish and several other populations. VAMP4 is expressed in liver and skeletal muscle and participates in intracellular trafficking of secreted and membrane ...

Single prolonged stress increases contextual freezing and the expression of glycine transporter 1 and vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 mRNA in the hippocampus of rats

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 2007
Rats subjected to single prolonged stress (SPS) show enhanced HPA negative feedback, exaggerated acoustic startle response, and enhanced contextual freezing 7 days after SPS, and accordingly, SPS is an animal model of PTSD. To elucidate the influence of contextual fear on gene expression in the hippocampus of SPS rats, we used cDNA microarray followed ...
