In Vitro Cytotoxicity and Cell Viability Assays: Principles, Advantages, and Disadvantages

open access: yesGenotoxicity - A Predictable Risk to Our Actual World, 2017
Cytotoxicity is one of the most important indicators for biological evaluation in vitro studies. In vitro, chemicals such as drugs and pesticides have different cytotoxicity mechanisms such as destruction of cell membranes, prevention of protein ...

The viability property of jump diffusion processes on Riemannian manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
In this note, we consider the necessary and sufficient condition for viability property of diffusion processes with jumps on closed submanifolds of $R^{m}$ with some concrete examples.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Viability of common yew (Taxus baccata L.) plants in conditions of Kryvyi Rih

open access: yesІнтродукція Рослин, 2019
Objective – to estimate the viability of Taxus baccata L. by complex of indices in Kryvyi Rih area and the possibilities of its use to green the industrial cities of Right-Bank Steppe. Material and methods.

Viability and Exponentially Stable Trajectories for Differential Inclusions in Wasserstein Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this article, we prove a general viability theorem for continuity inclusions in Wasserstein spaces, and provide an application thereof to the existence of exponentially stable trajectories obtained via the second method of Lyapunov.

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

On the Viability of Conspiratorial Beliefs

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Conspiratorial ideation is the tendency of individuals to believe that events and power relations are secretly manipulated by certain clandestine groups and organisations. Many of these ostensibly explanatory conjectures are non-falsifiable, lacking in evidence or demonstrably false, yet public acceptance remains high.

Construction of multi-default models with full viability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We study multi-default model which satisfies the quasi-left-continuity, the martingale representation property, the drift multiplier assumption and the full viability. We use $\natural$-model to construct one such model.
