Vibrot, a simple device for the conversion of vibration into rotation mediated by friction: preliminary evaluation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
While "vibrational noise" induced by rotating components of machinery is a common problem constantly faced by engineers, the controlled conversion of translational into rotational motion or vice-versa is a desirable goal in many scenarios ranging from ...

MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Increasing the Frequency Resolution when Measuring Vibrations of Rotating Bodies with Fixed Beam Laser Vibrometry

open access: yesAcoustical Physics, 2023
AbstractLaser Doppler vibrometry is actively used in experimental studies because of its noncontact measurement technique. When using a stationary laser to measure the vibrations of rotating bodies and Fourier transform to process the results of such measurements, a problem arises, associated with a decrease in the frequency resolution of the spectra ...

Drug‐Free Thrombolysis Mediated by Physically Activated Micro/Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Overview of particle‐mediated thrombolytic effects (thermal, mechanical, and chemical) and their activating physical stimuli (light, ultrasound, and magnetic field) in drug‐free thrombolysis. ABSTRACT Thrombus‐associated disorders rank among the world's leading causes of death, with ischemic heart disease and stroke as the main contributors.

Output Control of Three-Axis PMSG Wind Turbine Considering Torsional Vibration Using H Infinity Control

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Due to changes in wind, the torque obtained from the wind turbine always fluctuates. Here, the wind turbine and the rotor of the generator are connected by a shaft that is one elastic body, and each rotating body has different inertia.

Actuating and Sensing Composites of Liquid Crystal Elastomers and Poly(ionic liquid)s

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conductive, mechanically tough, flexible, and stretchable filaments of a composite material comprising a liquid crystal elastomer and a poly(ionic liquid) are produced through 3D printing, which exhibit large actuation strain under stimulation and electrical resistance variation in response to deformation or environmental condition changes. Their

Dynamics simulation of mechanical gearbox vibration

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper focuses on creating a virtual model of mechanical gearbox used in medium-sized terrain vehicle using MSC.Adams software. This software is regarded as the most common and effective tool to simulate the gearbox as multibody system and to record ...
