Rolling and Impacting Caustic Drops on Super Liquid‐Repellent Surfaces: In Situ Force and Energy Monitoring of Surface Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The use of continuous drop‐based force and energy probing methods is introduced to evaluate in situ chemical degradation of super liquid‐repellent surfaces by caustic liquids. By tracking the velocity of rolling drops and energy dissipation of impacting drops, degradation dynamics are resolved under high spatio‐temporal precision. Using this technique,

Games on Games. Game Design as Critical Reflexive Practice

open access: yesG|A|M|E The Italian Journal of Game Studies, 2016
Can video game design be compared to more formalized practices of scientific research or speculation within game studies? And, by virtue of an intellectual leap that in itself calls for discussion, can video games be considered as an efficient vehicle ...

Interfacial Bioengineering of Dynamic Networks Hybrid Hydrogel for Programmed Intervention in Oral Precancerous Epithelial States

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a dual‐bioinspired hydrogel, MSA@PGel (macrophage membrane‐coated and salvianolic acid B/5‐aminolevulinic acid co‐loaded liposomes embedded in a polydopamine‐based gel), that integrates macrophage membrane‐mediated active targeting and mussel‐inspired wet adhesion for programmed intervention in oral precancerous lesions.

Towards a cross-cultural game design: an explorative study in understanding the player experience of a localised Japanese video game

open access: yesJoSTrans: The Journal of Specialised Translation, 2009
Video games have grown into a global industry today with games routinely localised into an increasing range of languages. Despite the quality control processes in game localisation, target players often find localised games to be lackluster, as if they ...

Hydrogel Thermostat Inspired by Photoprotective Foliage Using Latent and Radiative Heat Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by Populus alba foliage, this hydrogel latent‐radiative thermostat (LRT) actively balances latent and radiative heat fluxes. An LRT switches solar reflectance, maintains high mid‐IR emissivity, and reversibly evaporates/regenerates water, while titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles toughen the film.

Freeform Fabrication of Layered Halide Perovskite Nanowire Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
‘All‐at‐once’ freeform fabrication of layered perovskite nanowire heterojunctions is realized by 3D printing employing meniscus‐guided crystallization. The integration of nanoscale additive manufacturing with layered halide perovskites will provide a versatile platform to freely design and realize highly stable perovskite‐based optoelectronic ...

A mente e a máquina: desempenho, design de jogos e humanidades

open access: yesBoitatá, 2013
This article argues in favor of teaching video game design as a humanistic discipline. In The Art of Videogames (2009), Grant Tavinor defines video games as a form of fiction and art.
