Inhibition of Endosomal Transport Results in Decreased Synthesis of Nucleocapsid Protein of PHV Virus [PDF]
This paper is devoted to investigation of molecular mechanisms of transport of nucleocapsid protein of non-pathogenic virus Prospect Hill. Prospect Hill virus (PHV) belongs to the family Bunyaviridae, genus Hantavirus.

The role of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein in antiviral immunity and vaccine development
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused enormous health risks and global economic disruption. This disease is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

An ATP‐driven molecular switch, comprising viral nucleocapsid (N) protein and host helicase DDX21, dynamically modulates SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA G‐quadruplex (G4) heterogeneity. These viral G4s feature non‐canonical ion‐dependence and act as energy‐sensitive structural checkpoints.

Characterization and interactome study of white spot syndrome virus envelope protein VP11. [PDF]
White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a large enveloped virus. The WSSV viral particle consists of three structural layers that surround its core DNA: an outer envelope, a tegument and a nucleocapsid.

Endowing Flexibility of Alveolar Type II Cells to Recapitulate Development From Lung Bud to Alveoli
Adult human alveolar type 2 cells are chemically reprogrammed into expandable alveolar progenitor‐like cells that acquire bud tip‐like features during expansion and form organoids that mature into alveolar‐like structures. These organoids model influenza A virus infection and innate immune responses in vitro, while transplanted cells engraft ...

The role of viral genomic RNA and nucleocapsid protein in the autophagic clearance of hantavirus glycoprotein Gn [PDF]
Hantaviruses have tri-segmented negative sense RNA genome. The viral M-segment RNA encodes a glycoprotein precursor (GPC), which is cleaved into two glycoprotein molecules Gn and Gc that form spikes on the viral envelope. We previously reported that Gn is degraded shortly after synthesis by the host autophagy machinery.

Sarbecovirus ORF9b recruits host phosphatase PPM1A to suppress innate immunity through dual mechanisms. PPM1A directly dephosphorylates ORF9b to sustain its activity and indirectly downregulates STAT2 phosphorylation to impair interferon signaling. Pharmacological inhibition of PPM1A restores antiviral responses and limits sarbecovirus replication ...

The Measles Virus Nucleocapsid Protein Tail Domain Is Dispensable for Viral Polymerase Recruitment and Activity [PDF]
Paramyxovirus genomes are ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes consisting of nucleoprotein (N)-encapsidated viral RNA. Measles virus (MeV) N features an amino-terminal RNA-binding core and a 125-residue tail domain, of which only the last 75 residues are considered fully mobile on the nucleocapsid surface.

One for all? A viral protein supplants the mRNA cap-binding complex [PDF]
Modulation of the host cell’s translational machinery is a crucial part of viral infection strategies.Well-characterised mechanisms that aid viruses in manipulating translational activity include, for example, internal ribosomal entry sites, which allow ...
