Dual Blockade of LILRB1 and LILRB2 Enhances Antiviral Immune Responses in SIV Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual LILRB1/B2 blockade with mac20G10 reshapes myeloid activation during acute SIV infection by targeting LILRB1 and LILRB2 on myeloid cells. This treatment enhances CD80 expression on selected myeloid subsets and increases plasma IFN‐λ, IL‐8, and IL‐1RA.

In-host modeling of Tfh–Tfr–fCD8+ T cell dynamics on HIV reservoir persistence

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
HIV persistence within germinal centers is driven by complex interactions among T follicular helper (Tfh), T follicular regulatory (Tfr), and follicular CD8+ (fCD8+) T cells. Yet, the mechanisms sustaining the viral reservoir remain poorly understood. We

Failure of daily tenofovir to prevent HIV transmission or the establishment of a significant viral reservoir despite continued antiretroviral therapy

open access: yesJournal of the International AIDS Society, 2014
Truvada is licenced for HIV‐1 prevention in the USA and is available in the private sector. Tenofovir performed as well as Truvada in the PARTNERS PrEP study and is used as HIV pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PreP) in some settings.

A Comprehensive Microbial Gene Catalog of the Human Airway Microbiome Across Anatomical Sites and Geographic Regions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated Human Airway Microbiome Gene Catalog (iHAMGC) is constructed from 12,273 metagenomic airway samples, providing a high‐resolution reference of respiratory microbial genes. The catalog enables systematic exploration of taxonomic and functional variation across airway niches and geographic regions, revealing site‐specific and region ...

Seoul orthohantavirus evades innate immune activation by reservoir endothelial cells.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens
Pathogenic hantaviruses are maintained world-wide within wild, asymptomatic rodent reservoir hosts, with increasingly frequent human spillover infections resulting in severe hemorrhagic fever or cardio-pulmonary disease.

TZA, a Sensitive Reporter Cell-based Assay to Accurately and Rapidly Quantify Inducible, Replication-competent Latent HIV-1 from Resting CD4+ T Cells

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2019
The latent HIV-1 viral reservoir in resting CD4+ (rCD4+) T cells represents a major barrier to an HIV-1 cure. There is an ongoing effort to identify therapeutic approaches that will eliminate or reduce the size of this reservoir.

Early antiretroviral therapy limits SIV reservoir establishment to delay or prevent post-treatment viral rebound

open access: yesNature Medicine, 2018
Prophylactic vaccination of rhesus macaques with rhesus cytomegalovirus (RhCMV) vectors expressing simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) antigens (RhCMV/SIV) elicits immune responses that stringently control highly pathogenic SIV infection, with subsequent

Untangling Inositol (Pyro)Phosphate Biology Through Emerging Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inositol (pyro)phosphates represent a vital class of intracellular messengers that govern multiple biological processes. The last decade has experienced a surge of interest in the functions of this class of signaling molecules, primarily due to the introduction of several innovative analytical technologies.
