Viral reservoir is suppressed but not eliminated by CD8 vaccine specific lymphocytes

Vaccine, 2010
It has long been postulated that while CD8 lymphocytes are capable of suppressing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 replication it is unlikely that the viral reservoirs once formed can be cleared. Our previous studies demonstrate that co-immunizing cynomologous macaques with a simian/human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV) DNA-based vaccines induces a ...

Viral pollution of some artificial reservoirs in Romania.

Zentralblatt fur Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie und Hygiene. 1. Abt. Originale B, Hygiene, 1984
Five reservoirs were investigated for the presence of enteroviruses by using simultaneously two methods for concentration (PE60 and yeast cells) and two techniques for isolation (inoculation into suckling mice and into cell cultures). The average rate of virus positive samples was lower in reservoir water than in the water of the adjoined rivers.

On HIV-1 latency and viral reservoirs

2015
HIV-1 establishes a latent infection that is inaccessible to treatment in cellular and anatomical reservoirs. This thesis concerns several problematic issues of HIV-1 persistence, including ways to measure and monitor both the virus at low viral concentrations and the depletion of the reservoir.
