Avian influenza H9N2 virus isolated from air samples in LPMs in Jiangxi, China

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2017
Background Recently, avian influenza virus has caused repeated worldwide outbreaks in humans. Live Poultry Markets (LPMs) play an important role in the circulation and reassortment of novel Avian Influenza Virus (AIVs). Aerosol transmission is one of the

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Cure of chronic viral infection and virus-induced type 1 diabetes by neutralizing antibodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The use of neutralizing antibodies is one of the most successful methods to interfere with receptor–ligand interactions in vivo. In particular blockade of soluble inflammatory mediators or their corresponding cellular receptors was proven an effective ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Different reactive profiles of calmodulin in the CSF samples of Chinese patients of four types of genetic prion diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience
Background and purposeCalmodulin (CaM) levels exhibit significant elevation in the brain tissue of rodent and cell line models infected with prion, as well as in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from patients diagnosed with sporadic Creutzfeldt ...

Exploring the Pivotal Role of the CK2 Hinge Region Sub-Pocket in Binding with Tricyclic Quinolone Analogues by Computational Analysis

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
Protein kinase CK2 has been considered as an attractive therapeutic target of cancer therapy. The tricyclic quinoline compound CX-4945 is the first representative of CK2 inhibitors used in human clinical trials.
