VIREMIA IN HYPERPYREXIC CHILDREN [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1977
Sixty-three children between the ages of 4 months and 16 years were studied because of temperatures of 39.5°C (103°F) or greater without an obvious source of infection. No child had received antibiotics for at least two weeks prior to this evaluation. Every child had bacterial cultures of blood, pharynx, cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF) and urine.

Evaluation of Hematological, Biochemical, and Coagulation Tests in Patients with Hepatitis C

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) remains a significant cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. While direct-acting antivirals achieve high cure rates, the interplay between viral load, gender, and routine laboratory parameters remains

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Human Pegivirus Encephalitis With Brain Detection and Response to Sofosbuvir Ledipasvir

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human pegivirus (HPgV‐1) has been associated with severe encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients. Its neurological spectrum remains poorly defined. We report a slowly progressive encephalitis in a person living with well‐controlled HIV, characterized by white matter abnormalities and inflammatory cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). HPgV RNA was

Serological Findings in Pigs Vaccinated Against Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and the Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
The reasons for disease outbreaks caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) in vaccinated pigs are often unknown and remain a challenge for farmers and veterinarians.

Secreted Nonstructural Protein 3 is a Pathogenic Determinant of Orbivirus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a conserved PIP2‐dependent secretory pathway of orbivirus NS3 that induces vascular leakage. Pharmacological disruption of PIP2‐NS3 interaction significantly reduces viral pathogenicity and provides protective efficacy in murine models, establishing PIP2‐mediated NS3 secretion as both a key virulence determinant and a promising ...

Late Cytomegalovirus Infections After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplant

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graft versus host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis with posttransplant cyclophosphamide (ptCY) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) prophylaxis with letermovir have changed the clinical epidemiology of CMV infection. We studied the incidence, risk factors for, and outcomes of CMV infection after Day + 90 of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT ...
