By profiling 4,143 bat individuals from 40 species, we prepared a compendium of 8,176 viral metagenomes, named BtCN-Virome. It expands the known bat RNA virus diversity by at least 3.4 folds. The data set provides important insights into understanding the diversity and circulation pattern of bat viruses.

Bluetongue in China: Current Status of Viruses, Vectors, Detection Methods, and Vaccines
Bluetongue (BT) is a vector‐borne viral disease caused by the bluetongue virus (BTV), which can affect a variety of wild and domestic ruminants. Due to its significant impact on ruminant health and national economies, BT is classified as a notifiable multispecies disease by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH).

HCMV-encoded NK modulators: Lessons from in vitro and in vivo genetic variation [PDF]
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is under constant selective pressure from the immune system in vivo. Study of HCMV genes that have been lost in the absence of, or genetically altered by, such selection can focus research toward findings of in vivo ...

Probing the Viromic Frontiers [PDF]
ABSTRACT Modern molecular technology, and particularly high-throughput sequencing (HTS), has revolutionized virus discovery and expanded the depth and breadth of the virome. Recent HTS was used to identify and discover a previously undescribed member of the family Flaviviridae that has genomic features ...

KLF15 is a molecular link between endoplasmic reticulum stress and insulin resistance [PDF]
Obesity places major demands on the protein folding capacity of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), resulting in ER stress, a condition that promotes hepatic insulin resistance and steatosis. Here we identify the transcription factor, Kruppel-like factor 15 (

Bacterial ribosomal RNA detection in cerebrospinal fluid using a viromics approach
Key points We demonstrate that an unmodified viromic next-generation sequencing methodology effectively detects bacterial pathogen ribosomal RNA in cerebrospinal fluid samples. Sensitivity and specificity displayed pathogen dependent variation.

Large-scale distribution of microbial and viral populations in the South Atlantic Ocean [PDF]
Viruses are abundant, diverse and dynamic compo-nents of the marine environments and play a signi?-cant role in the ocean biogeochemical cycles. Toassess potential variations in the relation betweenviruses and microbes in different geographic regionsand ...
