The association of visceral adiposity with cardiovascular events in patients with peripheral artery disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Previous studies have suggested that patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) suffer from a high incidence of cardiovascular events (CVE). Visceral adiposity has been implicated in promoting CVEs.

Degrading GPX4 via Biomimetic Nanoparticle‐Mediated In Situ Synthesis of Deep‐Learning‐Designed Binder‐Degron Chimeras for Prostate Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A deep‐learning‐designed binder is fused to a combinatorial degron to create a binder‐degron chimera (bdC) that recruits the CUL2‐RING ubiquitin ligase complex. Encapsulation in a prostate‐cancer‐targeted, CD47‐camouflaged nanocarrier enables tumor‐specific in situ bdC expression, triggering GPX4 degradation and ferroptosis, thereby establishing a ...

Sex-Specific Misclassification of Obesity When Using Body Mass Index in Young Healthcare Professionals: A Large Cross-Sectional Study Using Multiple Adiposity Indices

open access: yesMedical Sciences
Background: Body mass index (BMI) remains the standard tool for obesity screening; however, it does not account for body fat distribution or visceral adiposity, potentially leading to clinically relevant misclassification—particularly in young adults ...

A Biomimetic cRGDyk‐Engineered Platelet Nanoplatform for ACAD11 Delivery to Trigger Pyroptosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biomimetic platelet nanoplatform (OE‐ACAD11@R‐PLT) is developed for targeted hepatocellular carcinoma immunotherapy. By selectively delivering therapeutic plasmids, this system induces mitochondrial dysfunction and triggers robust NLRP3/Caspase‐1/GSDMD‐mediated pyroptosis in tumor cells.

Video and Text‐Based Supplemental Health Information and Consumer Willingness to Pay for Nutrient‐Enhanced Eggs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nutritional information is very important in the food choices of consumers. However, when they are too scientific or technical, they have the potential to confuse consumers, resulting in information asymmetry and dissuading them from making beneficial choices.

Predictive performance of the visceral adiposity index for a visceral adiposity-related risk: Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2011
Background Visceral adiposity index (VAI) has recently been developed based on waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), triglycerides (TGs), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). We examined predictive performances for incident diabetes of

Preprint: Challenging the visceral fat paradigm: abdominal subcutaneous adiposity dominates cardiometabolic risk in young, lean Indians

open access: yes
Background: Central obesity has been associated with cardiometabolic diseases. Unlike in the white Caucasians, the abdominal subcutaneous adiposity has been associated with higher cardiometabolic risk in Indians.

Automating AI Discovery for Biomedicine Through Knowledge Graphs and Large Language Models Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This work proposes a novel framework that automates biomedical discovery by integrating knowledge graphs with multiagent large language models. A biologically aligned graph exploration strategy identifies hidden pathways between biomedical entities, and specialized agents use this pathway to iteratively design AI predictors and wet‐lab validation ...
