Visceral Fat Area Evaluation by Computed Tomography Correlates with Visceral Fat Volume
In Japan, the measurement of abdominal circumference is commonly used in diagnosis of visceral fat accumulation. It is also recommended that visceral fat at the umbilical level be measured using CT scans. If CT is used to measure the visceral fat area, we do not have to consider the possibility of measurement error due to subcutaneous fat.

Розробка математичної моделі оцінювання процесу іскріння в індуктивно-ємнісних електричних колах [PDF]
The brain is one of the most energetically expensive organs in the vertebrate body. Consequently, the high cost of brain development and maintenance is predicted to constrain adaptive brain size evolution (the expensive tissue hypothesis, ETH).

This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

The relationship between adiposity, bone density and microarchitecture is maintained in young women irrespective of diabetes status [PDF]
Background: The relationship between bone health and adiposity and how it may be affected in people with chronic metabolic conditions is complex. Methods: 17 women with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and 9 age-matched healthy women with a median ...

ABSTRACT Engineering living matter has great clinical potential to deliver functional replacement organs. However, clinical translation remains hampered by the current inability to maintain viability of clinically relevant‐sized constructs. During the pre‐vascular phase, implants rely on nutrient diffusion for survival, which is insufficient at ...

Norepinephrine-induced lipolysis was examined in visceral (epididymal and omental) and subcutaneous (abdominal and femoral) fat cells in rats. Hormone-induced lipolysis was considerably higher in the visceral fat cells than in the subcutaneous cells.

Measurement of Visceral Fat: Should We Include Retroperitoneal Fat?
Whether retroperitoneal fat should be included in the measurement of visceral fat remains controversial. We compared the relationships of fat areas in peritoneal, retroperitoneal, and subcutaneous compartments to metabolic syndrome, adipokines, and incident hypertension and diabetes. We enrolled 432 adult participants (153 men and 279 women) in a ...

Phenotypical heterogeneity linked to adipose tissue dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes [PDF]
Adipose tissue (AT) inflammation leads to increased free fatty acid (FFA) efflux and ectopic fat deposition, but whether AT dysfunction drives selective fat accumulation in specific sites remains unknown.

A human cell‐based microphysiological system integrates engineered muscle tissues with an inflamed adipose–macrophage niche to model obese microenvironment‐induced muscle dysfunction. Muscle contraction is quantified by pillar deflection coupled with computational stiffness estimation. Secretome and transcriptomic profiling reveal inflammation‐mediated
