Seamless Fusion: Multi-Modal Localization for First Responders in Challenging Environments

open access: yesSensors
In dynamic and unpredictable environments, the precise localization of first responders and rescuers is crucial for effective incident response. This paper introduces a novel approach leveraging three complementary localization modalities: visual-based ...

TDO-SLAM: Traffic Sign and Dynamic Object Based Visual SLAM

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper introduces a real-time visual SLAM system, TDO-SLAM, using only a stereo vision camera. TDO-SLAM works not only in static but also in dynamic road environment by incorporating the object motion and the planar property of standing traffic signs.

Determination of Map Scale and Initialization of Landmarks for Aerial Robot Monocular Visual Localization and Mapping

open access: yes, 2016
This study investigates the issues of visual-sensor-assisted aerial robot navigation. The major objectives are to provide an aerial robot the capabilities of localization and mapping in global positioning system (GPS) denied environments.

Neuropsychological and Educational Outcomes in Shwachman–Diamond Syndrome—A Report From the North American Shwachman–Diamond Syndrome Registry

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Shwachman–Diamond syndrome (SDS) is a rare autosomal recessive ribosomopathy characterized by bone marrow failure and multisystem involvement, with emerging evidence of associated neurocognitive impairment. Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 240 individuals with biallelic Shwachman–Bodian–Diamond syndrome (SBDS) mutations

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

FPC-Net: Revisiting SuperPoint with Descriptor-Free Keypoint Detection via Feature Pyramids and Consistency-Based Implicit Matching

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The extraction and matching of interest points are fundamental to many geometric computer vision tasks. Traditionally, matching is performed by assigning descriptors to interest points and identifying correspondences based on descriptor similarity.
