Vitamin B5: Pantothenate

2018
Vitamin B5 is the simple acid pantothenic acid (from the Greek pantos, meaning widespread). B5 needs to undergo five enzymatic steps to be converted to coenzyme A, in which the terminal thiol of a cysteamine moiety is the key reactive atom, once dissociated to the thiolate anion.

CHAPTER 8. The Chemistry of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5)

2012
Pantothenic acid is also called vitamin B5. Pantothenic acid comprises β-alanine and 2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyric acid (common name, pantoic acid). Pantothenic acid is stable under neutral conditions, but is readily destroyed by heat in alkaline or acid solutions. Pantothenic acid is more stable as sodium and calcium salts.

CHAPTER 20. Analysis of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5)

2012
The pantothenic acid content in blood, urine and food is measured as free or total pantothenic acid and a classical microbiological assay using Lactobacillus plantarum remains the most practical method for this measurement. Although several other methods are available, including radioimmunoassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), high ...

Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5), Coenzyme A and Related Compounds

1989
Pantothenic acid (R- or d-(+)-N-(2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethyl-1-oxobutyl)-β-alanine; for chemical formula, see Table 1) was first isolated in the 1930s from liver and found to be an essential growth factor for yeasts (Williams and co-workers, 1943). During this same period, it was also identified independently with the chick anti-dermatitis factor, the ...

Vitamin B5 (Pantotenik Asit)

Özetle; B5Vitamini çeşitli diyet kaynaklarından kolayca elde edilebilir Pantotenik asit eksikliği belirli bir hastalıkla ilişkilendirilmemiş olsa da, vitamin eksikliği klinik olarak genel bir halsizliğe neden olur fakat izole pantotenik asit eksikliği nadir karşılaşılan bir durumdur.

Development of a vitamin B5 hyperproducer in Escherichia coli by multiple metabolic engineering

Metabolic Engineering
Vitamin B5 [D-pantothenic acid (D-PA)] is an essential water-soluble vitamin that is widely used in the food and feed industries. Currently, the relatively low fermentation efficiency limits the industrial application of D-PA. Here, a plasmid-free D-PA hyperproducer was constructed using systematic metabolic engineering strategies.
