Nonthermal Food Processing Technologies: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates the shift from traditional thermal food preservation methods to advanced nonthermal technologies. Traditional methods, represented by heating, often compromise the nutritional and sensory quality of foods. In contrast, nonthermal approaches such as high‐pressure processing (HPP), pulsed electric field (PEF ...

Dietary Pyridoxine Controls Efficacy of Vitamin B6-Auxotrophic Tuberculosis Vaccine Bacillus Calmette-Guérin ΔureC::hly Δpdx1 in Mice

open access: yesmBio, 2014
The only tuberculosis (TB) vaccine in use today, bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), provides insufficient protection and can cause adverse events in immunocompromised individuals, such as BCGosis in HIV+ newborns. We previously reported improved preclinical

Physical Properties of an Ionic Liquid Composed of Two Water-Soluble Vitamins and Enhanced Skin Permeation of Both Vitamins

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
A highly viscous substance was prepared by evaporating an ethanol solution containing two hydrophilic vitamins; vitamin C, and vitamin B6. The viscous substance and physical mixture of the two vitamins were tested using a differential scanning ...

Vitamin B6 reduces oxidative stress in lungs and liver in experimental sepsis.

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2019
Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction induced by a disrupted host response to infecting pathogens. Inflammation and oxidative stress are intrinsically related to sepsis progression and organ failure.

Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.

Weizmannia coagulans XY2 Mitigates Copper Neurotoxicity via Gut–Brain Axis Modulation of Tryptophan Metabolism and Oxidative‐Inflammatory Crosstalk

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Copper interferes with tryptophan metabolism and 5‐HT levels by modulating intestinal flora. Intestinal barrier breakdown and inflammatory response trigger nerve damage under copper exposure. W. coagulans XY2 alleviates copper‐induced neurotoxicity by targeting a multi‐dimensional “tryptophan metabolism‐antioxidant defense‐gut‐brain axis” network.

Vitamin B6 and vitamin D deficiency co‐occurrence in geriatric memory patients

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
INTRODUCTION Vitamin B6 and D levels are not assessed routinely in geriatric memory patients. This study examined vitamin levels to determine the potential effects on cognition.

Effects of vitamin B6 on growth, diarrhea rate, intestinal morphology, function, and inflammatory factors expression in a high-protein diet fed to weaned piglets.

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2019
Vitamin B6 (VB6) is an important coenzyme factor which participates in many metabolic reactions, especially amino acid metabolism. There are few reports on how VB6 mediates weaned piglet intestinal health.
