Vaccination rates modulate the correlation between country latitude and covid-19 surge date arising this autumn 2021 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
A clear linear correlation of covid-19 surge date with country latitude was observed last autumn 2020, but not with temperature, nor with humidity, pointing the seasonal vitamin D status decline as a contributor factor. Well vaccinated European countries are this autumn 2021 repeating explosive surges.

A Vitamin B-6 Antagonist from Flaxseed Perturbs Amino Acid Metabolism in Moderately Vitamin B-6–Deficient Male Rats [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, 2016
Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) plays a crucial role as a cofactor in amino acid metabolism. There is a prevalence of moderate vitamin B-6 deficiency in the population that may be exacerbated through the ingestion of 1-amino d-proline (1ADP), a vitamin B-6 antagonist found in flaxseed.Given prior evidence of the impact of synthetic 1ADP on indexes of ...

Independent components in spectroscopic analysis of complex mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesChemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems, 2010, 103, 108-115, 2010
We applied two methods of "blind" spectral decomposition (MILCA and SNICA) to quantitative and qualitative analysis of UV absorption spectra of several non-trivial mixture types. Both methods use the concept of statistical independence and aim at the reconstruction of minimally dependent components from a linear mixture.
