Salt‐induced nutritional and metabolic shifts in halophytes: implications for food security
Abstract Plant species vary in their response to salinity: some crops show a degree of salt tolerance, while halophytes – whether wild or cultivated – are characterized by a high capacity to thrive under saline conditions. Halophytes are considered a source of valuable secondary metabolites with potential economic value, yet they might also produce ...

Vitamins and provitamins in nutrition of younger school-age children [PDF]

ABSTRACT This study explored the association between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) progression in an older population. Using data from NHANES 2001–2020, we analyzed 4974 adults aged ≥ 60 years with CKM syndrome. The CDAI was calculated from the intake of six dietary antioxidants.

L‐Carnitine has a key role in the metabolism of fatty acids as a ‘substrate’ for the reversible acetylation of coenzyme A and as a carrier for the transport of long‐chain fatty acids from cytosol across the inner mitochondrial membrane. L‐Carnitine and L‐

AbstractUnderstanding the nutritional requirements of captive animals is necessary for proper animal husbandry, however, the specific dietary requirements for many amphibian species commonly kept in captivity are unknown. Like most vertebrates, frogs cannot synthesize carotenoids and must therefore obtain these essential nutrients through diet.

This review explores how to make staple foods and horticultural crops more nutritious, including how artificial intelligence‐based screening of gene banks helps deploy nutritionally rich germplasm into breeding. Genome editing can help develop crops richer in minerals, vitamins, and health‐promoting compounds, supporting healthier diets and more ...

Use of visible and near infrared reflectance spectra to predict lipid peroxidation of light lamb meat and discriminate dam's feeding systems [PDF]
Measurement of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) is a well-established method for determine lipid oxidation in meat. This assay, however, is time-consuming and generates undesired chemical waste.

Buck Wheat: Nutritional, Bioactive Characteristics, Health Benefits, and Side Effects
ABSTRACT Micronutrient deficits have resulted from an over‐reliance on a small number of cereal crops for food security. The agricultural sector faces severe sustainability issues due to the rapid growth of the world's population and sudden climatic changes.
