Analysis of the volatilome of Calocybe gambosa
Mycological Progress, 2015The volatilomes of fresh and dried fruiting bodies of Calocybe gambosa were analyzed and compared in this study for the first time. Aroma compounds were extracted by means of liquid/liquid extraction, purified by solvent assisted flavor evaporation (SAFE), and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and olfactometry.

The volatilome of the cnidarian-dinoflagellate symbiosis
2023
With a rapidly changing environment, understanding the endosymbiotic relationship between cnidarians and dinoflagellates is crucial to elucidate the ways in which corals may respond to future conditions. At the basis of this symbiosis is the exchange of metabolites and signalling molecules between partners, all of which contribute to ...

Bacterial populations and the volatilome associated to meat spoilage
Food Microbiology, 2015Microbial spoilage of meat is a complex event to which many different bacterial populations can contribute depending on the temperature of storage and packaging conditions. The spoilage can derive from microbial development and consumption of meat nutrients by bacteria with a consequent release of undesired metabolites.

Poprhyrinoids Based Sensors for Volatilomics
ECS Meeting AbstractsMetabolomics can be defined as the systematic study of the unique chemical fingerprints that specific cellular and physiological processes leave behind. For the scope, it encompasses a set of analytical methods to detect low molecular weight metabolites in biological samples that are linked to specific health or disease conditions.

Comprehensive analysis of the volatilome of Scytinostroma portentosum
Mycological Progress, 2017Fruiting bodies of the corticoid fungus Scytinostroma portentosum, known as mothball crust, have been sampled from a dead branch of sallow. Volatile organic compounds of the samples were extracted by means of liquid/liquid extraction and purified by solvent assisted flavour evaporation.

Volatilome: Smells like microbial spirit
In recent years, the study of volatile compounds has sparked interest due to their implications in signaling and the enormous variety of bioactive properties attributed to them. Despite the absence of analysis methods standardization, there are a multitude of tools and databases that allow the identification and quantification of volatile compounds ...Lorena, Cuervo +3 more

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
This study examines the complex volatilome of maize silage, both with and without commercial heterolactic strain inoculation, conserved for 100 days, using quantitative volatilomics. Chemical classes linked to microbial metabolism were analyzed across a concentration range from 10 μg g-1 to 1 ng g-1.
