Effect of Electroacupuncture at Shuigou Acupoint on L-type Voltage-gated Calcium Channels in hippocampal CA1 region of MCAO rats

open access: yes康复学报, 2019
Objective:To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Shuigou acupoint on the recovery of neurological function to explore the mechanism of the L-type voltage-gated calcium channels in hippocampal CA1 region of middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO ...

Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy and Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis in a Family of South Indian Descent

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2015
Inherited channelopathies are a heterogeneous group of disorders resulting from dysfunction of ion channels in cellular membranes. They may manifest as diseases affecting skeletal muscle contraction, the conduction system of the heart, nervous system ...

The tarantula toxin psalmotoxin 1 inhibits acid-sensing ion channel (ASIC) 1a by increasing its apparent H+ affinity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) are ion channels activated by extracellular protons. They are involved in higher brain functions and perception of pain, taste, and mechanical stimuli.

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Structural modeling of ion channels using AlphaFold2, RoseTTAFold2, and ESMFold

open access: yesChannels
Ion channels play key roles in human physiology and are important targets in drug discovery. The atomic-scale structures of ion channels provide invaluable insights into a fundamental understanding of the molecular mechanisms of channel gating and ...

FM1-43 dye behaves as a permeant blocker of the hair-cell mechanotransducer channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Hair cells in mouse cochlear cultures are selectively labeled by brief exposure to FM1-43, a styryl dye used to study endocytosis and exocytosis. Real-time confocal microscopy indicates that dye entry is rapid and via the apical surface.

Characterization of an Injectable Poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin Hydrogel for Growth Factor Delivery in an Orthopedic Application

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...
