Luminosity Functions of Lyman Alpha Emitting Galaxies and Cosmic Reionization of Hydrogen
Recent observations imply that the observed number counts of Lya Emitters (LAEs) evolved significantly between z=5.7 and z=6.5. It has been suggested that this was due to a rapid evolution in the ionisation state, and hence transmission of the IGM which ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Structural identification of cubic iron-oxide nanocrystal mixtures: X-ray powder diffraction versus quasi-kinematic transmission electron microscopy [PDF]
Two novel (and proprietary) strategies for the structural identification of a nanocrystal from either a single high-resolution (HR) transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image or a single precession electron diffraction pattern are proposed and their ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Understanding electrical and chemical transmission in the brain
The histochemical Falck-Hillarp method for the localization of dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA) and serotonin in the central nervous system (CNS) of rodents was introduced in the 1960s. It supported the existence of chemical neurotransmission in the CNS.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Spectral Demodulation System Based on Two Transmission Volume Bragg Gratings
In this paper, a fiber grating demodulation system based on two transmission volume Bragg gratings (VBGs) was proposed. In order to resolve the problem that the spectral resolution of the present fiber grating demodulation system is not high enough, the ...

Nanotexture influence of BaTiO3 particles on piezoelectric behaviour of PA 11/BaTiO3 nanocomposites [PDF]
The piezoelectric activity of a hybrid ferroelectric nanocomposite, i.e. polyamide 11/barium titanate (BT), has been investigated for different loadings of BT particles.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...
