MISSEL: a method to identify a large number of small species-specific genomic subsequences and its application to viruses classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Continuous improvements in next generation sequencing technologies led to ever-increasing collections of genomic sequences, which have not been easily characterized by biologists, and whose analysis requires huge computational effort.

Prevalence of Eight Viruses in Captive Amur Tigers (Panthera tigris altaica) From Harbin, China 中国哈尔滨市圈养东北虎8种病毒的流行

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
The Amur tiger, an endangered flagship species mainly found in the Russia Far East and Northeastern China, holds immense biological importance, and has been listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Kinetic Enhancement of Raman Backscatter, and Electron Acoustic Thomson Scatter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
1-D Eulerian Vlasov-Maxwell simulations are presented which show kinetic enhancement of stimulated Raman backscatter (SRBS) due to electron trapping in regimes of heavy linear Landau damping. The conventional Raman Langmuir wave is transformed into a set

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Chaperonin TRiC/CCT subunit CCT7 is involved in the replication of canine parvovirus in F81 cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Canine parvovirus (CPV) is one of the most common lethal viruses in canines. The virus disease is prevalent throughout the year, with high morbidity and mortality rate, causing serious harm to dogs and the dog industry.

Orbital L-functions for the space of binary cubic forms

open access: yes, 2011
We introduce the notion of orbital L-functions for the space of binary cubic forms and investigate their analytic properties. We study their functional equations and residue formulas in some detail.

Identification and Phylogenetic Characterisation of Novel Adeno‐Associated Virus Capsids in Non‐Human Primate Tissues

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
AAV's widespread application is currently confronting critical challenges. This study established a systematic framework of ‘natural discovery–evolutionary analysis–functional optimization’, providing a new paradigm for the development of next‐generation AAV vectors with clinical‐grade tissue specificity, low immunogenicity, and cross‐species ...

Truncated forms of viral VP2 proteins fused to EGFP assemble into fluorescent parvovirus-like particles

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2006
Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) monitors random movements of fluorescent molecules in solution, giving information about the number and the size of for example nano-particles. The canine parvovirus VP2 structural protein as well as N-terminal

Mathematical model of a serine integrase-controlled toggle switch with a single input [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dual-state genetic switches that can change their state in response to input signals can be used in synthetic biology to encode memory and control gene expression.

Topographical analysis of canine parvovirus virions and recombinant VP2 capsids

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1993
The distribution of epitopes defined by monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) on the surface of canine parvovirus (CPV) virions and recombinant VP2-capsids was established using immunoelectron microscopy. A correlation appeared to exist between the linear position, neutralizing activity and immunogold staining.
