Long‐term prognosis is associated with residual disease after neoadjuvant systemic therapy but not with initial nodal status

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This long‐term follow‐up study determined survival rates in a Swedish national cohort of 417 patients with breast cancer who all had neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST). Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) was performed before NAST in clinically node‐negative and after NAST in clinically node‐positive patients.

Backtesting expectile: Disentangling unconditional coverage and independence properties

open access: yesRisk Sciences
Under current regulations, financial institutions are required to estimate the daily Value-at-Risk (VaR) or Expected Shortfall (ES) of their trading positions. Despite being widely studied and adopted, both risk measures have theoretical limitations: VaR

TESTING THE PRICING-TO-MARKET HYPOTHESIS CASE OF THE TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT INDUSTRY [PDF]

open access: yes
Most of the evidence in favor of pricing-to-market (PTM) was obtained by estimating partial equilibrium models using OLS, instrumental variable (IV) and single-equation error-correction methods.

How Competitive Is Myanmar's Rice Sector? A Comparison of Production Costs and Efficiency

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper analyzes the cost competitiveness of rice production in Myanmar by examining production costs, cost efficiency, and the potential effect of improving cost efficiency on the country's global competitiveness. To achieve this, we conduct a comparative analysis of production costs among major rice‐producing countries and estimate the ...

Weak Change Detection: A Review

open access: yesMathematics
This article provides a selective review of offline change-point detection methods, with a particular emphasis on weak change-points. The study of such weak changes plays a central role in establishing the asymptotic properties of test statistics ...

An exact, unified distributional characterization of statistics used to test linear hypotheses in simple regression models [PDF]

open access: yes
The Wald, likelihood ratio and Lagrange multiplier test statistics are commonly used to test linear restrictions in regression models. It is shown that for testing these restrictions in the classical regression model, the exact densities of these test ...

Small sample properties of maximum likelihood versus generalized method of moments based tests for spatially autocorrelated errors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper undertakes a Monte Carlo study to compare MLE-based and GMM-based tests regarding the spatial autocorrelation coefficient of the error term in a Cliff and Ord type model.

Drivers of Farmers' Contract Compliance Behavior: Evidence From a Case Study of Dangote Tomato Processing Plant in Northern Nigeria

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Contract farming is a viable strategy agribusinesses rely on to strengthen coordination across actors in the value chain. However, low contract compliance remains a significant setback to agribusinesses' contract performance in low‐ and middle‐income country context.

Efficiency and Technology Gap in European Apple Production—A Metafrontier Model for Germany, Italy, and Poland

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT EU member states have exhibited varying rates of apple production growth. Technical efficiency (TE) estimation is suitable for identifying best‐practice farm performance. This study examined whether the development of the apple sector in Germany, Italy, and Poland was influenced by production efficiency, access to technology, as well as ...

Complex Parameter Rao and Wald Tests for Assessing the Bandedness of a Complex-Valued Covariance Matrix

open access: yesSignals
Banding the inverse of a covariance matrix has become a popular technique for estimating a covariance matrix from a limited number of samples. It is of interest to provide criteria to determine if a matrix is bandable, as well as to test the bandedness ...
