Influence of Hornification Treatment and Fiber Length on the Performance of Recycled Polypropylene Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Study of the influence of hornification treatment and jute and mallow fiber length on the physical, thermal, and mechanical properties of recycled polypropylene (PP) composites. ABSTRACT The growing accumulation of plastic waste has driven its reuse in the development of new composites, with natural fibers emerging as promising reinforcements. However,

Landless peasants, soilless cultivation: British agricultural experimentation and intervention in post‐independence Iraq (1932–1958)

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
‘Greening’ is often depicted as an inherently benevolent practice, turning arid stretches of land into arable and fertile plots. However, by considering a longer history of place and taking archival records into account, such transformations are rendered more complex and, often, more fraught.

The effect of sesamol on endogenous substances and oxidative stability of walnut oil

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
This study explored the effect of sesamol on the stability of walnut oil based on the changes of endogenous characteristics in the oxidation process, which provided a theoretical reference for the application of natural antioxidants in walnut oil.

Spatial analysis of storm depths from an Arizona raingage network [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Eight years of summer rainstorm observations are analyzed by a dense network of 93 raingages operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, in the 150 km Walnut Gulch experimental catchment near Tucson, Arizona. Storms are

A Comprehensive Review of Adsorbents for Rare Earth Separation: Design, Synthesis, Adsorption Performance, and Mechanisms

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rare earth elements (REEs) play an irreplaceable role in modern technology and industry. However, due to the highly similar physicochemical properties among REEs, their separation remains a significant challenge. Additionally, REEs often exist in low‐concentration solutions, making efficient REE recovery an urgent task.

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.

Utilization of Walnut Male Flowers (Juglans regia L.) as a Functional Ingredient in Biscuits: Impacts on Dough Rheology, Nutritional Composition, Glycemic Response, and Sensory Attributes [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
This study investigated walnut male flowers (WFs) as a functional ingredient in biscuits. Replacing wheat flour with 0%–10% WFs enhanced dough viscoelasticity, increased protein and fiber content, and reduced the predicted glycemic index by up to 16%.

On the embeddability of certain infinitely divisible probability measures on Lie groups

open access: yes, 2011
We describe certain sufficient conditions for an infinitely divisible probability measure on a class of connected Lie groups to be embeddable in a continuous one-parameter convolution semigroup of probability measures. (Theorem 1.3).
