An algorithm for managing warfarin resistance

open access: yesCleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, 2009
Some patients need higher-than-expected doses of warfarin (Coumadin) to get their international normalized ratio (INR) into the therapeutic range. The cause of warfarin resistance can be either acquired (eg, poor compliance, drug interactions, dietary interactions) or hereditary, but the genetic mechanisms of warfarin resistance are not well understood.

An Experimental Study to Assess the Ecotoxicity of Warfarin and Tinzaparin on Meiobenthic Amphipods: Original Taxonomic Data from Saudi Arabia and Computational Modeling

open access: yesToxics
In the current research, we examined the effects of warfarin (W1 = 5 mg/L and W2 = 25 mg/L) and tinzaparin (T1 = 5 mg/L and T2 = 25 mg/L) on meiofauna using microcosms.

Exacerbation of Hereditary Warfarin Resistance by Azathioprine

open access: yesClinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis, 2010
A 39-year-old Afro-Caribbean man with Crohn disease with recurrent deep vein thromboses and pulmonary emboli was commenced on lifelong warfarin treatment. The patient required high-dose warfarin (>140 mg/wk), which increased further during azathioprine treatment. Cessation of azathioprine resulted in an increase in the international normalized ratio

Warfarin Resisance and Recurrent Thrombosis in an Iranian Patient

open access: yesCase Reports in Clinical Practice, 2019
Warfarin resisance was known as subtherapeutic INR (International Normalized Ratio) in spite of normally prescribed doses of warfarin. There are few reports of warfarin resisance from Iran.

Dose-dependent artificial prolongation of prothrombin time by interaction between daptomycin and test reagents in patients receiving warfarin: a prospective in vivo clinical study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, 2017
Background Daptomycin has been reported to cause artificial prolongation of prothrombin time (PT) by interacting with some test reagents of PT. This prolongation was particularly prominent with high concentrations of daptomycin in vitro. However, whether

Assaying of Warfarin in Iranian Warfarin Resistance Patients Blood by HPLC

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Biological Sciences, 2008
A simple and rapid HPLC method with UV detecting system has been used in determination of warfarin level in plasma of Iranian patients who received different doses of this drug. Six resistance (10-70 mg day(-1)) and 5 sensitive patients (0.5-2.5 mg day(-1)) were selected for this study. Range of warfarin level in plasma was between 0.93 and 22.8. After
