Haematological and serum biochemical responses of chickens to hydric stress

open access: yesAnimal, 2013
Dehydration can be extremely damaging to the performance and welfare of indigenous chickens. The effect of water restriction on haematological and biochemical parameters was compared in Naked Neck (NNK) and Ovambo (OVB) chickens. A total of 54 8-week-old

THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF RESTRICTED WATER SUPPLY: A COMPUTABLE GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
Water problems are typically studied at the level of the river catchment. About 70% of all water is used for agriculture, and agricultural products are traded internationally.

Behavior of Ships in Shallow and Restricted Waters [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2001
Ship motions in open waters and waves are always dynamic and most of the time are nonlinear. Even though behavior of ships in shallow and restricted waters does not sound as violent at first thought, it is equally important in terms of capsizing. There has been so many casualties reported that claimed so many lives.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Chitosan mitigates water stress in cowpea plants through modulation of growth, homeostasis, and antioxidant activities

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionClimate change and population growth increase food demand, especially in semi-arid regions. Water deficit affects cowpea productivity, but foliar application of chitosan can improve its tolerance, stimulating antioxidant activity and growth ...

The autoepitope of the 74-kD mitochondrial autoantigen of primary biliary cirrhosis corresponds to the functional site of dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Autoantibodies to mitochondrial antigens are characteristic of the autoimmune liver disease primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), but the precise antigenic determinants recognized by these antibodies have not been defined.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Mouse Water Restriction v1

open access: yes
This protocol describes a semi-customized workflow to perform water restriction with mice designated for future experiments. Water restriction is a common method used to increase engagement and motivation of mice performing behavioral experiments that use water as a reward.
