Physical characteristics of soil under different cropping and natural system on the plain of jars, Xieng Khouang province, Laos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Conservation agriculture and direct seeding mulch-based cropping (DMC) systems greatly modify plant and soil interaction. Plants commonly provide energy that fuels biological processes and either directly or indirectly creates structure within soils ...

Photophysical characterizations of 2-(4-Biphenylyl)-5 phenyl-1,3,4- oxadiazole in restricted geometry

open access: yes, 2008
Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of nonamphiphilic 2-(4-Biphenylyl)-5 phenyl-1,3,4- oxadiazole (abbreviated as PBD) mixed with stearic acid (SA) as well as also with the inert polymer matrix poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) have been studied ...

Reviews on the Properties of Aggregates made with or without Geopolymerisation Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aggregates are popular for use in concrete and lightweight concrete applications. Recent research shows that the by-product materials such as fly ash can be used as raw material in producing aggregates and lightweight aggregates.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Effects of Humic Acid from Weathered Coal on Water-Stable Aggregates and Pore Structure of a Reclaimed Cambisol

open access: yesAgronomy
To clarify the effects of weathered coal humic acid on water-stable aggregates and pore characteristics of reclaimed cambisol, this research analyzed the evolution characteristics of soil aggregates and pores.

Effects of afforestation on soil structure formation in two climatic regions of the Czech Republic

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2015
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of agricultural land afforestation on soil characteristics. Two sites in two regions of the Czech Republic were evaluated, at lower as well as higher submountain elevations: in the regions of the Orlické ...

Systematic screening of different polyglycerin‐based dienophile macromonomers for efficient nanogel formation through IEDDA inverse nanoprecipitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Alternatives for strain‐promoted azide–alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) chemistries are needed because of the employment of expensive and not easily scalable precursors such as bicyclo[6.1.0]non‐4‐yne (BCN).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Effect of intercropping Lolium perenne in Ziziphus jujuba orchards on soil quality in the canopy [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
The cultivation of Lingwu jujube traditionally employs clean tillage, leaving substantial gaps between rows and exposing almost 60% of the orchard to the elements.

Structural and dynamical characteristics of mesoscopic H$^+$[H$_2$O]$_n$ clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Structural and dynamical characteristics pertaining to the solvation of an excess proton in liquid-like nanoclusters of the type [H$_2$O]$_n$ are investigated using Molecular Dynamics experiments. Three different aggregate sizes were analyzed: $n=10,$ 21
