On the existence of three solutions for quasilinear elliptic problem [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2012
We consider a quasilinear elliptic problem of the type \(-\Delta_p u = \lambda (f(u)+\mu g(u))\) in \(\Omega\), \(u|_{\partial \Omega} =0\), where \(\Omega \in \mathbb{R}^N\) is an open and bounded set, \(f\), \(g\) are continuous real functions on ...

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Source term model for elasticity system with nonlinear dissipative term in a thin domain

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2022
This article establishes an asymptotic behavior for the elasticity systems with nonlinear source and dissipative terms in a three-dimensional thin domain, which generalizes some previous works.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Weak solutions of boundary value problems in nontube domains for fourth-order equations of composite type

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2011
In the paper existence and uniqueness of weak solutions of boundary value problems in nontube domains for fourth-order equations of composite type are proved by methods of functional analysis.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Existence of axisymmetric weak solutions of the 3-D Euler equations for near-vortex-sheet initial data

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 1998
We study the initial value problem for the 3-D Euler equation when the fluid is inviscid and incompressible, and flows with axisymmetry and without swirl.

Weak-Strong Uniqueness for Measure-Valued Solutions [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 2011
We prove the weak-strong uniqueness for measure-valued solutions of the incompressible Euler equations. These were introduced by R.DiPerna and A.Majda, and in particular global existence to any L2 initial data was proven. Whether measure-valued solutions agree with classical solutions if the latter exist has apparently remained open.
